Towards the end of 2019 I entered a competition to win a pair of custom Vans trainers. I can't even remember what the competition entry was now as I genuinely forgot about it but to my surprise a few weeks later I received an email saying I had won.
I thought it was spam at first and deleted it but then instantly went back to double check and low and behold it was legit! So the prize was a voucher for 1 pair of custom vans that I design myself.
This was a big deal. Like HUGE deal. I could design a pair of custom Vans trainers exactly how I wanted them so I needed to make sure they were perfect. After a few days of odd designs, coming up with ideas, scribbling things down I started to piece everything together. I focused on Vintage Halloween imagery and tried to create something that had a vintage style but also a modern look.
Once I had finished the design I sent it all off and waited... waited for literally weeks until one fine glorious January day they showed up at my work place in all their spooky glory. And they are AMAZING! The design came out so clear and clean, the colours really do look awesome together and Vans really did a fantastic job. As much as I wish vans would release a pair Halloween vans like this (they do tend to release Halloween Vans most years but they're usually a standard design with webs or just Halloween colours. Like the release for 2019) I am so pleased to have these and over the moon that I won. You can check out my custom trainers below.
