6/29/2022

Another month is coming to an end which means another month closer to Halloween and we're now officially at the beginning of Spooky Season!

TK Maxx and Homesense here in the UK have finally started to stock spooky products and I could not be anymore happier! It is always so exciting to see spooky things appearing in store and the fact that this year appears to be the earliest year so far, is a treat all by itself!

The past month I have discovered so many wonderful products, especially spooky pins and like usual, the majority of the products below are from small businesses too.

Halloween Forever Print

Picture
Stores are starting to stock spooky products and for those of us who look forward to this time of year, this print is perfect for you.

This Halloween Forever print from Sandstar Art is available in A5 and can be purchased with a mount for easy framing.

The print is so adorable and features two cute ghosts holding a large love heart. A sweet little bat and Jack o'lantern are above, with autumnal flowers around the heart too.

You can pick up this print and many other spooky products from Sandstar Art right here.

Spooky Ghost Knife Pin

Picture
The second ghost product on this months list is this cute ghost pin.

The pin features three little ghosts floating around a knife. The ghosts also glow in the dark when the lights go out, adding another layer of  spooky goodness to this pin.

One thing I especially love about this pin, is the fact the ghosts faces have bene screen printed onto the pin. I've never actually come across a screen printed pin in this way, but think it's such a clever way of adding small details.

You can pick up this pin right here.

In Memory Of My Sleep Pin

Picture
This months list does contain a handful of pins, as I came across so many awesome designs.

The second pin on todays list is one of a series of spooky pins and the pin that jumped out the most to me is the 'In Loving Memory of Sleep' design. I absolutely love it and also love the other designs available in this series, which includes a ghost, pumpkin and more.

You can pick up this pin right here.

HalloweenTown Pin

Picture
Full confession before telling you all about this next pin... I only watched Halloween town for the first time around a year ago... I had never seen HalloweenTown until Disney+ arrived in the UK, but I absolutely loved it and I absolutely love this pin too.

The pin recreates the Halloweentown book and features so much tiny detail. It's perfect for fans of the films and would make a great gift too.

You can grab this pin right here.

Trick 'r Treat Pop

Picture
Trick 'r Treat is one of my all time favourite films and I can watch it every single day of the year and never got bored of it.

When Funko revealed two new TrT Pops this year, I was pleased to see more Pops being added to the current range but at the same time disappointed that both releases were of Sam.

However this week it appears there are even more Pops on the way, with the reveal of Chuckles! Chuckles is one of the kids from the School Bus Massacre and they come with a cute Jack o'Lantern bucket too.

Very little detail is known about this Pop and unfortunately I haven't been able to find it for sale anywhere yet. As this is only one of the school bus children, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that we see more characters soon!

Boofy the Bat Pin

Picture
If you absolutely love bats, you will LOVE this next pin on this months list.

Boofy is a super cute, purple bat pin would look great on any outfit! The pin measures approximately 25mm and is made from hard enamel. Why not buy two of these pins and place them on the collar of your shirt/jacket?

You can pick up this little cutie right here.

Halloween Jack O Lantern Crossbody Bag

Picture
This year will see the end of the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy with Halloween Ends being the final film released in this series of films.

We still have plenty of time before the film comes out, so why not prepare yourself for what is sure to be a great film with this amazing Halloween Jack o'Lantern Crossbody Bag?

The bag features the famous pumpkin from the original film and is lined with a matching Jack o'Lantern and Michael Myers fabric print.

You can pick up this awesome bag right here.

Spooky Ghost Ceramic Collectible

Picture
A haunted home is a happy home and this ghost will definitely make your home happy!

This hand sculpted ghost is made from porcelain ceramic and featured a daisy print all over. This little ghoul is also available in three different sizes and you can choose from yellow or pink daisies too.

You really can't get more Summerween than a flower print ghost!

Pick up this little cutie and be sure to check out all of the other ghosts available from this store right here.

Jack O Lantern Backpack

Picture
I absolutely love the next addition to this months list. How cool is this Jack O Lantern bag?

The bag has a full Jack o Lantern design on the front, with a pumpkin and bat print on the sides too. Inside contains a pocket to hold a 15 inch laptop, with pockets also on the front. This water resistant bag is the perfect way to show off your spooky side and would look great for your little ghouls school bag too!

The Jack o Lantern design is definitely giving me The Nightmare Before Christmas vibes.

You can pick this bag up right here.

Murderous Ghost Pin

Picture
The name of this pin is what first grabbed my attention, as it's such a great name and design for a pin.

The Murderous Ghost pin features a naughty little ghost that has carved out and is now eating a poor Jack o Lantern.

I adore this pin and love how it's also giving of a vintage Halloween style. The pin measures 2 inches too, so it's a good size pin!

You can pick up this pin right here.

Five Ways To Celebrate Halfway To Halloween!

4/30/2020

Picture
The last day of April means one thing... it's officially six months until Halloween! We are now at the halfway point with our constant countdown.

Over the next six months we can expect to see things popping up in stores, new ranges being released, the sequel to 2018s Halloween, Halloween Kills and just about as much spooky goodness as you can handle!

So to celebrate 6 months to go, here's five easy and fun things that you can do today to celebrate getting even closer to the best time of year.

Picture
Plant Pumpkins!

Now is actually the best time to plant your pumpkins within the UK. The colder days and nights are behind us (although it still feels like its winter some nights brrrr) and Summer is on it's way which also means warmer weather.

As the UK weather is very hit and miss late April to the end of May is the right time to get those seeds in the soil. It will give them plenty of time to grow and if the weather is good to us this year, you'll see a nice harvest come October.

If you're in a warmer location and don't have seeds to hand, then fear not as you can wait until as late as July to plant them. For all the ins and outs of pumpkin growing click right here.

Picture
Listen to Music!

This one is an easy one but should definitely get you in the mood for October. Have a little dance party at home with as many spooky songs as you can find. Youtube is bursting with Halloween songs and so many wonderful spooks have also created playlists to help cut out all that searching.

I also created a list of great songs to listen to (with a new one coming very soon!) and if you want constant 365 days a year Halloween music playing then why not check out Halloween Radio? There are five different spooky stations to choose from and it's available all year!

Picture
Spooky Snacks!

There might still be six months to go but it doesn't mean that you can't have a mini Halloween party with lots of spooky snacks. You don't have to head out to the supermarket to make your snacks either. If you've got yourself a Halloween cookie cutter why not cut out spooky sandwiches? If you have food colouring, add it to an easy cake mix to add a creepy twist. There are endless ways to add a Halloween touch to your meals today.

If you're in a making mood though why not make Toffee Apples? or Frankenstein crispy treats or these lovely Candy Corn Cupcakes!

Picture
Watch A Film!

I love watching Halloween films any time of year and today is no exception! In a world where we have Disney+ Amazon Prime and Netflix you don't have to worry about trying to find something to watch either.

If you have Disney+ you can currently watch all four HalloweenTown films, Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas along with other Halloween themed films and if you search Halloween on Netflix or Amazon you're greeted with a whole bunch of spooky films for your eyes to feast on.

Why not watch a Halloween episode from your favourite TV show or throw on a film you already have on and cosy on down under a big blanket. The Halloween episodes from Friends, Cougar Town, Scream the TV Series and Buffy the Vampire Slayer are all worthy of a watch. If you haven't seen a show before then why not start one! It might just become your new favourite show.

Picture
Plan, Plan and Plan!

Now we've hit the halfway mark, let's get planning! Some of you have been planning this Halloween since last Halloween and for those of you who haven't even started, now is the time!

You've got the perfect amount of time to decide on your costume, your party theme, even what treats you would like to put into treat bags. Start planning the food you would like to make, the things you would like to create or even start making a shopping list of what you would like to hopefully buy this year.

There are already thousands of Halloween goodies for you to find online too. So if you're in the mood for a little Halloween shopping then you can very easily trick or treat yourself. Planning for October can be extremely fun and if you really want to go for it, why not create your own book? Fill it with all your favourite Halloween things and then keep adding to it all the time. That way you have your own personal Halloween reference for when you need it more.

Happy Halfway to Halloween!

Picture
Missing Halloween and the month of October? Me too! So from now until Halloween, each week they'll be a new 'Seven Spooky Things' post to ensure you can add a bit of Halloween to your day 365 days a year.

These Seven Spooky Things should keep you well spooked from April 20th to April 27th.

Check out this weeks activities below:

Picture
Monday

It's a new week! So lets kick start this week with a super easy and quick make. You might even have one of these around the house from all the Easter Chocolate you've had.

Todays make is this Gothic box which is made from an old Ferrero Rocher plastic box. All you need to do is spray paint it and add some embellishments for a super easy gothic make.

Find out more and how to make it in more detail right here.

Tuesday

Today's activity should actually keep you busy for more than just a day and it's totally free! I previously released an Activity Pack to help combat boredom and also give kids a little something to do during this lockdown.

Well last week I released another Activity Pack and this one is bigger! It once again contains colouring pages and puzzles/games but you can also make your very own Candy Corn bunting Decoration.

You can grab the first Activity Pack right here and the second pack here. If you do download and make these please do tag me in your pics as I would love to see!

Wednesday

Let's make pancakes! These pancakes are easy to make and also low in fat.

All you need is: 350g sieved flower, 1 tsp baking powder, 2 bananas, 2 eggs, 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 250ml of milk.

Mash the bananas into a bowl with the eggs, vanilla extract and milk until it's all mixed together and smooth. In another bowl mix the flower and baking powder together and then combine the two mixes together.

In a hot pan melt a little butter and pour out you desired amount. Cook for around 90 seconds to 2 minutes on each side and then serve! I had mine with syrup and sliced banana.

Picture
Thursday

I absolutely love these. They're such a great idea and fun to make. All you really need is some paper, card and ice lolly sticks to make your very own little flying witches.

What's more is you could have a whole bunch of these on your wall or stick to your windows for Halloween. Hang them to make little ceiling decorations or even a mobile.

Find out all the details right here.

Picture
Friday

Continuing with the witchy makes today and this one is another fun and easy project. All you need is string, pens, paper cups and some card/paper.

You can make these hanging witches that would look great in the garden. Their little paper dresses blow in the wind along with their fuzzy paper hair.

This is another make that would be great fun with the kids and you can really make each witch your own, so you have your own little paper coven at home.

Head on over to here to find out more and how to make them.

Saturday

This week Saturday is movie night. And this weeks movie is HalloweenTown. I have only just watched this film recently as it never had a UK release. With the arrival of Disney+ here in the UK all four of these films are now available for your streaming pleasure.

The film focuses on the Cromwell's who have a very long history of witchcraft and magic within the family, except the kids don't know that yet. When grandma needs help the kids take it upon themselves to not only help save HalloweenTown and it's people but also to find out who they really are in the process.

It's such a fun little film that I will definitely be watching every October from now on.

Picture
Sunday

It's your final Spooky Thing to do this week and this one is another super easy make.

All you need is orange and black paint (black markers would be suitable too) and some empty tins.

Make sure the tins are not sharp around the edges to avoid any cuts. All you need to do is paint them orange and draw/paint on your own Jack'O Lantern faces. You could make these into plant pots, stack them as decorations or even make your own game of bowling! Find out more right here.
