Picture
Missing Halloween and the month of October? Me too! So from now until Halloween, each week they'll be a new 'Seven Spooky Things' post to ensure you can add a bit of Halloween to your day 365 days a year.

These Seven Spooky Things should keep you well spooked from June 29th to July 5th.

Check out all of this weeks daily tasks below:

Picture
Monday

We're starting this week with a big make, it's big but cheap and looks amazing! These milk carton witches are made using tomato cages (which you can currently pick up for cheap from most stores stocking gardening products), paints, wire, pens and a few other things you might have around the house already.

You can make these easily in a day. Why not make more than one and create your own little coven of witches?
Find out everything you need to make this right here.

Picture
Tuesday

Your next make for this week are these easy Halloween Mickey Mouse ears!

As Disneyland begins to reopen you might be wanting to visit the park and these would be perfect. If you're more into staying at home then why not have a fun little Disney party with these too? Put on Halloween Town or Hocus Pocus and get making!

Find out all the details on how to make these right here.

Wednesday

We've hit the middle of the week and so today instead of making or watching something we're going to be doing a little light reading.

I recently came across this short article that features 11 of the UK's most haunted places. It's a quick but fun read and actually might encourage you to research these a little more to find out even more of the spooky happenings going on at each of these sites.

Check out The Top 11 Most Haunted Places to Visit In Britain via Kayak.

Picture
Thursday

We're back to making again today and this make might take you a few days to complete (clay needs to dry) but the final product really does look so awesome!

These skull and skeleton hand bottles only require bottles, clay, sculpting tools (or make do with what you have at hand if it works) and glue. Similar bottles like this are almost always available during the spookiest month of the year, so why not make them yourself this year instead? You could even change up the bone colours and shapes of the skulls.

Check out all of the details on how to make these right here.

Friday

This week Friday is movie night and this weeks film is the latest instalment in the Halloween franchise, 2018's Halloween.

If you haven't seen this film yet (where have you been?) then you're in for a treat. I know a small amount of people didn't like the sequels and remakes  of the original film so you'll be pleased to know that this film actually retcons every film made past the first one and places itself as a direct sequel to the 1978 release.

Forty years have passed since the massacre in Haddonsfield and Laurie Stroke has been preparing for Michaels return ever since. When the bus transporting him to a different prison crashes he makes his escape and returns to Haddonsfield once more on Halloween night.

Personally I think this film definitely breathed new life into the franchise and being a huge fan, I was extremely pleased with the film. There are small nods to other films throughout (the kids wearing the Silver Shamrock masks was my favourite Easter Egg) and some scenes that directly mirror the original.

If you haven't seen this film yet then you must check it out and get yourself ready for this years Halloween Kills.

Saturday

I have shared how to make your very own DIY Witch Broom in the past but the previous tutorial showed you how to make a full size broom, so today we're making smaller witches brooms and in two ways!

The tutorial shows you how to make a broom from twigs or grass and also has even more instructions on how to make different wreaths to go with it too.

Check out how to make todays super easy make right here.

Sunday

Your final project today is the easiest and quickest out of all of this weeks makes.

These free printables will transform any old books or even book storage boxes into magical spell books. There are even labels to make your very own Dead Sea Salt jars and they're all free to download and print too.

So you can get planning your Halloween party theme for this year or adding a little touch of magic to your home for free! Download and print these right here.

I recently shared a list of Ten small UK based businesses that celebrate Halloween All Year and while I am working on part 2 of that list (a list of ten really isn't enough!) here's ten international small businesses that also celebrate the spookiest month, 365 days a year.

The majority of these businesses do ship internationally so if you're after some spooky treats then be sure to check these stores out. Those that don't offer international shipping might still be able to ship to you, so if you see something that haunts your heart then why not simply drop them a message and i'm sure they'll be more than willing to help.

So for those of you who need more spooky goodness in your life, here's ten wonderfully spooky international businesses:

Seven Spooky Things To Do This Week. June 22ND - June 28th. Summer Special!

Picture
Missing Halloween and the month of October? Me too! So from now until Halloween, each week they'll be a new 'Seven Spooky Things' post to ensure you can add a bit of Halloween to your day 365 days a year.

These Seven Spooky Things should keep you well spooked from June 22nd to June 28th.

Check out all of this weeks daily tasks below:

Picture
Monday

It's officially Summer! So what better way to celebrate the sunny months with carving a watermelon. It's exactly the same as carving a pumpkin so there isn't much work involved at all but it is really fun. You can also use the insides to make a nice fruit salad or vodka cocktail.

If watermelon isn't your thing then maybe try it with a pineapple? The summer pumpkin is officially here. Now hurry up Autumn.

Picture
Tuesday

As it's hopefully nice and sunny where you are right now todays make is a fun little spider racing game. You don't need much at all to get this game going and most of the items you need might already have around the house or in your craft room.

Once put together you can race these fun little spiders along a string for a competitive summer garden game. Maybe race for little spooky prizes too. Find out all the details right here.

Picture
Wednesday

Another sunny make for you today and also another easy one too. All you really need are artificial sunflowers, moss, skulls and a glue gun.

These skull sunflowers actually look really cool and. I'm not usually a huge fan of skull things but I do really like these. I think they look great and would definitely turn heads if placed outside your home this summer.

To find out how to make your own just click here.

Picture
Thursday

Summer means making the most of the outdoors and what better way than with a nice meal outside in the garden. Today i'm sharing a recipe I recently came across to make Carrot and Ginger Quinoa Pepper Jacks.

They only require 5 ingredients and can be made in less than an hour but they taste greats. What's more is that they're 100% vegan and gluten free so if you're having a dinner party these would also be great for guests of all dietary types.

Find out all the details right here and also even more Pepper Jack'o Lantern recipes.

Picture
Friday

Friday night is movie night this week and what better film to watch to bring in summertime than Jim Gillespies I Know What You Did Last Summer!

Released in 1997 this film follows four friends who accidentally hit a pedestrian and instead of calling for help they dump his body in the water. A year later one of the friends receives an anonymous letter than reads 'I know what you did last summer' and then the killing starts.

The film grossed $125 million on a $17 million dollar budget and also spawned two sequels with the latest film being released in 2006.

Picture
Saturday

The weekend is here and if it's still nice and warm why not make these candy corn ice pops?

All you need is instant jelly and a ice lolly mould and you're all set to make these nice cool treats. If jelly isn't your thing you could easily recreate these ice lollies with different juices. Just freeze each layer in different stages to create the same effect.

Find out how to make these cool treats right here.

Picture
Sunday

Your final Spooky thing for this week is this easy recipe for Sparkling Pumpkin Punch.

Its quick and easy to make and you should be able to find everything at your local supermarket. I actually cannot wait to make this myself as I bet it tastes great and if you're having a summer get together (social distance rules come first of course) then this will go down a treat.

This is made with champagne or sparkling wine but you can easily remove for a family friendly drink instead. Find out more right here.

Seven Spooky Things To Do This Week. June 15th - June 21st.

Picture
Missing Halloween and the month of October? Me too! So from now until Halloween, each week they'll be a new 'Seven Spooky Things' post to ensure you can add a bit of Halloween to your day 365 days a year.

These Seven Spooky Things should keep you well spooked from June 15th to June 21st.

Check out all of this weeks daily tasks below:

Picture
Monday

We're starting the week with a fun little make that only really requires clay/polymer clay, a tooth pick and some paints.

This miniature pumpkin is super easy to sculpt and looks amazing. You don't even need to be skilled with working with clay as this quick and simple tutorial has you fully covered.

You can also go further and make this little set up too.

To find out all the details just click right here.

Picture
Tuesday

Your next little make is actually super easy and now is the perfect time to make this too. While a lot of stores have artificial plants available for your summer displays, grab a bunch, some black paint and get making these gothic style plants.

There isn't really any instructions on how to make these as it's literally just painting up some artificial plants but this article from Elle Decor does include some other gothic style makes for you to check out too.

Picture
Wednesday

Continuing with the yesterdays plant themed make is another plant creation. This one is BIG in both size and the amount of time it might make for you to put this together.

This DIY man-eating plant requires foam pumpkins (or something similar) paints, tools, golf tees and more but if you're already planning this years Halloween party you have plenty of time to get everything together to make this awesome creation!

To find out all the details just like this link.

Picture
Thursday

Another garden make and also continuing what appears to be a garden theme for this week... This Spooky Lantern Sign Post is actually really easy to make and really does look great.

You don't need a lot at all to make this and you could easily get this sign made in a day. One thing I especially like is that the black and orange stripes from top to bottom are made by simply wrapping tape around the post. So there is no painting needed!

To find out all the details on how to make this just click here.

Picture
Friday

This weeks movie night is Friday and tonights film is definitely not one for the kids. Rec is a Spanish found-footage film that focuses on a news crew that unexpectedly become trapped inside an apartment building while a deadly zombie virus breaks out.

Released in 2007, an English remake was released in 2008 under the new name Quarantine. If you have never seen either before I definitely recommend watching Rec. I actually sat and watched this film, alone, in the middle of the night with no subtitles because I had no idea it even had subtitles so sat there terrifying myself with no idea what was happening. It was a good film! :)

Picture
Saturday

This is another make that is most likely perfect to put together this time of year. Today you can find out how to make your very own skeletal flamingos!

There isn't a lot of work that needs to go into making these but you will need a pink flamingo so if your local homeware/diy store has any for garden displays then now is the perfect time to swipe one up!

Check out all of the details right here.

Picture
Sunday

Your last little make for this week is this cute spiderweb garland.
Created by Cheers With Chelsea, this diy has been created to show spiders a little love as although they might be a bit scary they're still super cute.

Find out all the details on how to make this fun little creation and even more information on how you can be kind to spiders right here.

Ten UK Small Businesses That Celebrate Halloween All Year!

6/14/2020

Picture
As Halloween creeps closer and closer we're now reaching that point where some stores might start to stock little glimmers of the spooky season. It was only just over a year ago that we started to see Pumpkin candles and autumnal products appear in stores like Homesense and TK Maxx.
With the states already starting to stock products I thought a list of some of the best UK based small businesses that stock Halloween things all year might be appropriate.

So if you're after a spooky fix any time of the year then be sure to check out these awesome stores and also keep an eye out for another list focusing on international stores too!

Picture
Skullduggery Ceramics

Skullduggery Ceramics is one of my favourite spooky stores. Not only does the store have a whole bunch of handmade gothic treats but she makes new products all the time!

You'll be able to find Witch Hat ring holders, Graveyard Business Card Holders, Skeleton Mugs, Jewellery and much, much more from this wonderful store. I actually own one of the Graveyard business card holders and it sits proudly on my desk adding the right amount of spook to my working days.

Check out the Skullduggery store right here and don't forget to also hit follow on instagram and Facebook.

Picture
Lady Jo Bangles

If you're after vintage inspired pieces then this store is for you. You'll be able to find a whole bunch of vintage Halloween tricks and treats including wall art, decorations and jewellery from the Lady Jo Bangles store.

All items are hand-painted and they really do look amazing. If you're after something a little less spooky then be sure to check out all the other vintage inspired creations too.

You can check out the store right here and be sure to hit follow on instagram also.

Picture
Nine Lives Later

Nine Lives Later is filled with handmade tattoo inspired treats. You'll be able to find Black Cat pennants, tote bags, pillows and more.

Add in a few coffins, ghosts, tattoo inspired art work and this pretty much sums up this amazing store. All items are handmade and hand-painted too!

You can check out all the awesome products via the store right here and be sure to also hit follow on Facebook too!

Picture
The Ghost Family Haunts

This store is a fairly new discovery and it's actually thanks to @batwife on instagram that I even knew it existed but I am so glad to know it does.

The Ghost Family Haunts is a duo of awesome creators who make and sell their own wax melts, candles, room sprays, stickers, t shirts and more. All products have a Halloween and Gothic touch.

They also sell subscription packages and create unique collections based off of some of your favourite films and holidays.

You can check out their instagram right here and maybe trick or treat yourself via the store too.

Picture
Voodoo Dudes

Voodoo Dudes is a small online business that sells different kinds of handmade felt treats. You can find tree decorations, brooches, keychains and more.

Plus if you're after a unique greeting card then this store is definitely for you!

Check out this awesome little store right here and be sure to follow on Facebook too.

Picture
Kris Miners

Kris Miners store is bursting with soooo much Halloween goodness and he is constantly adding new things to the store too.

You can grab vintage style pins and greeting cards and Halloween/Spooky style treats for other occasions such as Valentines Day and Christmas too.

Plus Miners released his very own book last year called Hornbeam Hollow: The Hunt For The Halloween Pumpkin with a follow up releasing soon too. So if you're after an adorable bed time story for the kids then check this book out!

You can view all of the wonderful treats from his store right here and be sure to follow on instagram.

Picture
This Is Sian Ellis

The next two entries on this list I have shared before but they are definitely worthy of a re-share mainly due to the fact that both stores have added SO MANY new products that you need to check them out!

Sian Ellis creates absolutely adorable spooky art and she has recently added new acyclic pins, prints and more to her store. I absolutely adore the two new pins and always love seeing what shes working on next. You can also grab Sian Ellis ghost tees from The Yorkshire Collective too.

You can check out her awesome website right here, head right to her store and be sure to follow on instagram too for lots of spooky updates.

Picture
Simons Nest

Simons Nest is run by the wonderful Autumn and her unique designs are incredible. Her store has actually been having a huge amount of updates recently including this new vintage inspired Trick or Treat design. Along with this, there are so many other gothic and Halloween themed products.

You can grab most of her designs on a large amount of products including greeting cards, mirrors, badges, prints and more. There is also a monthly mystery box available where you can receive surprise treats every month.

Check out her store right here and be sure to hit follow on instagram.

Picture
The Sad Ghost Club

I have loved The Sad Ghost Club for as long as I have known they existed, which is a good few years that's for sure.

Apart from selling so many wonderful ghostly treats, the club also helps raise awareness of mental health issues through everything they sell and make.

You'll be able to find pins, tote bags, prints and more from their store, plus the added bonus that you're helping others with every purchase is great too.

Check out their website right here.

Picture
Ghosts By Sarah

The final store on this list I actually only discovered while researching stores for this list. All of the above businesses I was aware of before but this one is new to me and I am so glad I found it as it's adorable!

Ghosts By Sarah is a small online store that sells all different kinds of ghost prints. Each print is actually a photograph that Sarah has then added in ghosts using paint pens and ink. Each one features ghosts just doing normal everyday things and they really are so cute! I can see myself making a purchase from this store very soon.

Check out all of the available prints right here and be sure to follow on instagram too.

Picture
Picture
One final last little shameless mention... October 31st is always here, 365 days a year for your spooky fix!

New products are being added all the time too.

Picture
Missing Halloween and the month of October? Me too! So from now until Halloween, each week they'll be a new 'Seven Spooky Things' post to ensure you can add a bit of Halloween to your day 365 days a year.

These Seven Spooky Things should keep you well spooked from June 8th to June 14th.

Check out all of this weeks daily tasks below:

Picture
Monday

It's the start of the week and usually I always start with something quick and easy to get you into the new week but todays make isn't an easy one, but it is fun and worth it.

You'll need a few tools, wood and paint but with everything you have you can make your very own Coffin Shelf! In the video it only took 1 hour 30 minutes for them to make one of these so you won't have to worry about this taking days and you can actually get this completed today!

Check out the video on how to make one of these right here.

Picture
Tuesday

Compared to yesterdays make this one is super easy! Today you can make your very own Tombstone Treat Boxes.

These little cardboard boxes would be great for a party, a gothic wedding favour or even use them as your invitations for this years Halloween party.
They don't take long to make at all and really do look great.

Plus you can have a whole load of fun just coming up with ideas on what to write on each tombstone.

Find out all the details right here.

Picture
Wednesday

If you have a spare set of fairy lights or can grab some for cheap (pound stores usually sell them) then grab some black or white card and some scissors and lets get making these easy peasy Black Cat or Ghost lights.

They're quick and extremely effective. The perfect way to add a little spooky touch to your crypt.

Check out the tutorial right here.

Picture
Thursday

Todays make is a little time consuming and you'll need to grab a few supplies but it looks AMAZING and is totally worth your time.

This The Nightmare Before Christmas inspired countdown clock decoration really does look great and you can change it depending on what holiday you're counting down to by simply flipping the little sign.

You should be able to find almost everything you need for this in craft stores so you won't have to travel all over the place to make it.

Read all the details on how to make your own right here.

Picture
Friday

You'll be pleased to know the final two makes for this week are super easy, so the rest of the week is going to be a lot more relaxing.

Today using old egg cartons, paints, card and some goggly eyes you can make a little Halloween crew. These will be a really fun make with the kids and will also help to reduce waste.

Check out this little make right here.

Picture
Saturday

Today is film night and todays film is a Halloween film definitely for adults, so do not watch this one with the kids.

Candy Corn was released in 2019 and has already become somewhat of a cult classic. Trick or Treat studios have released an official line of Candy Corn products and the soundtrack has also been released on limited edition vinyl.
The film is a low budget movie but don't let that put you off as the effects are great and the storyline will have you hooked from start to finish.

It's Halloween weekend and a group of bullies are planning their annual hazing on local outcast, Jacob Atkins. When they take things too far, he's resurrected to seek revenge against those that wronged him.

Candy Corn is currently available for free on Amazon Prime.

Picture
Sunday

Your final make for the week and this one is easy, so easy that all it might take is a quick trip into the garden and back.

All you need is a glue gun, black card and some twigs to make these really simple, yet great looking bat decoration.

You can find out how to make this and more right here.

Seven Spooky Things To Do This Week. June 1st - June 7th. Bonus theme: Vintage Halloween.

6/1/2020

Picture
Missing Halloween and the month of October? Me too! So from now until Halloween, each week they'll be a new 'Seven Spooky Things' post to ensure you can add a bit of Halloween to your day 365 days a year.

These Seven Spooky Things should keep you well spooked from June 1st to June 7th.

Last month each week had a theme and although we're now into a new month, we're going to kick start it off with a bonus theme week! And this weeks final theme is Vintage Halloween.

Check out all of this weeks daily tasks below:

Picture
Monday

Let's start the week with a five minute make. This is really simple to make and also looks great. These vintage style Halloween nut cups would look great amongst your vintage collection or for your next Halloween party.

Based on original nut cups, these printable cups can be used for all kinds of things. What's more is that the printable to make these is completely free.

Check out all the steps and your free download right here.

Picture
Tuesday

Your next make for this week is this vintage style Black Cat Trinket Box. It will take a little patience to put together but with that being said, it's very easy to make and the finished product is brilliant.

Imagine giving these out with little gifts inside at your next party or even adding a little touch of Halloween to Christmas? The box alone is a gift so to include something inside would make it extra special.

Today we're making paper dolls and these are sure to be a lot of fun with the kids too. Created using vintage Beistle designs, these free paper dolls will make a great Halloween decoration for your home. You could also make them in different sizes and make them into little hanging decorations too.

Or just print off loads and make your own paper doll army. Whatever you decide to do with them, get started with all the details and your free printable right here.

One thing that you cannot deny is a true Halloween classic is the Halloween mask. Whether they're made from fabric, paper, card, plastic or even metal, Halloween masks have been a staple of this spooky holiday for as long as it's existed.

Thankfully By Gone Theatre has put together a whole bunch of different Halloween mask designs that you can download and print to make your own Halloween decorations. Maybe even use them as gift tags for presents or for making small hanging decorations?

Check out all of the designs and printables right here.

You might be able to make todays creation with a small amount of things around the house, if not a visit to your nearest craft store is a must as today you can make these wooden vintage style Halloween cubes.

Each side has a unique design so you can change them around as much as you like and also put them out year after year until they become vintage by themselves!

Find out all of the ins and outs of how to make these right here.

Your final vintage style make for this week is this Countdown to Halloween wall plaque. What I really like about this is the use of a black peg as a bat but also a chalk holder, it's such a simple idea but one that works really well.

What's more is that although the instructions for this are tailored to this particular design, why not change it up a little and create your own unique Halloween design?

Find out all of the details right here.

Sunday

It's the last day of the week and let's be honest, if you've managed to make everything this week then a break is definitely in order.

So to end the week we're not going to watch a film but instead a short series and this week's Movie Night or Series Night (as it's more appropriate) will be the wonderful Over The Garden Wall.

Released in 2014 by Cartoon Network, the show has quickly developed a cult status and was only released for the first time ever in the UK this year on dvd and blu ray. The story follows two brothers who become lost in the woods and must find their way home. It features many dark twists and turns with odd moments of adult humour.

Now the reason I have chosen this specific show for vintage week is because it actually has quite a few vintage Halloween elements throughout the show, from the cute but creepy pumpkin people to actual vintage decorations that are scene in later episodes of the show. Each episode is only around 10-12 minutes each so you can finish this show in a day, but it is definitely one that hopefully will become a new favourite.
