Monday

It's a new week of spooky fun and so we're kick starting this week with these super easy Coffee Filter Bats.

They don't take long to make at all and you can customise them in any way you like, so you can let your creativity run wild!

Find out all the details on how to make these right here.

Todays make might be a little tricky to put together but it's not impossible and it is 100% worth it!

Inspired by my recent find in Homesense here in the UK, these Shadow Box Pumpkins can be put together fairly quickly and designed in all kinds of different ways. The Haunted House pumpkin is definitely my favourite of the three pictured.

All you really need are artificial pumpkins, black card and battery powered tealight candles to put these together but they're a decoration that will last for many, many years to come! Find out how to make your very own Shadow Box Pumpkins right here.

Wednesday

The past few weeks movie night has been on the weekend but not this week! Instead Wednesday is this weeks movie night and we're watching Beetlejuice!

Released in 1988 Beetlejuice grossed a total of $74,000,000 worldwide and quickly became a cult favourite. A sequel has been rumoured for many years with the original title planned to be Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Although as of yet no official announcement has been made, an animated tv series was also released in 1989 and ran for 4 seasons.

'The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out'

Thursday

Inspired by yesterdays movie, today we're making these Potted Sand Worms!

They may looks  a little complicated but they're actually really easy (and fairly quick) to make. The tutorial shows you exactly how to make them in the picture but why not add a small stake into the base of these and place them inside actual plant pots?

These would look great amongst any indoor plants or even dotted around your garden (be sure to weatherproof them if this is the plan). Find out all the details on how to make these right here.

Friday

Booooooooook! Or should I say Brooooowwwwnniees! Who doesn't look Hocus Pocus? And also who doesn't love a good brownie? Add the two together and you've got literal magic in your mouth!

These Spell Book brownies look so tasty and how don't require much work at all. These would look great at a Halloween party or even if you're having  Hocus Pocus themed night.

Check out all the details on how to make these right here and let's get baking!

Saturday

This little make is extremely easy and quick but should easily keep any kids entertained for quite a while.

All you need to make this sweet little ghost bunting is masking tape, a black pen/felt, string and scissors!

You can then design as many different ghosts in all different shapes and sizes to make a truly unique and spooky bunting decoration. Check out everything you need to know to make your very own right here.

Sunday

Your final make for the week is one that I absolutely adore. These spooky little haunted houses are made from bird houses!

Right now is most likely the best time to get making these too, as so many stores are already starting to display their autumnal products and bird houses will start to be reduced in many stores to clear out all of the spring/summer stock. Here in the UK you can easily pick up a wooden bird house from The Works for a couple of pound too.

Read up on all the details right here on how to make your very own Haunted House!

Twenty Seven Hocus Pocus Facts To Celebrate 27 Years

7/16/2020

Picture
It's been 27 years right down to the day that Hocus Pocus first hit cinemas and what a wonderful 27 years its been!

From box office bomb to one of the biggest Halloween films on the planet, this film has definitely had a bumpy ride along the way.

It was originally released on this day (July 16th) in 1993, with the UK receiving the film during October of the same year. Over the years the film has grown with every Halloween and is even shown multiples times throughout October on tv.

So to celebrate one of the greatest Halloween films ever made, here's 27 bewitching facts for you to sink your teeth into.

Picture
1 - Hocus Pocus was originally created as a story by writer David Kirschner. He would read the story to his children before bed.

2 - Although a Halloween film, it was originally released in July 1993 and didn't perform as well as Disney had hoped. Created on a budget of $28 million, the film ended up making just over $39 million in the end.

3 - Sarah Jessica Parker absolutely loved flying on her broom, so much so that she would often spend hours at a time suspended on her broom while learning her lines.

4 - A scene cut from the film (but available on the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray) features Mary asking if the towns people can check to see if she left her cauldron on before she is hanged. When the Sanderson Sisters return from the dead she exclaims "I knew I left this cauldron on, didn't I tell you!"

5 - Bette Midler has stated that Winifred Sanderson is her all time favourite role she has ever played.

6 - Rosie O'Donnell was originally offered the role of Mary but turned it down as she didn't want to play a scary witch. Kathy Najimy also wanted the role as she was desperate to work with Bette Midler due to being such a big fan.
7 -  Although featured in an original trailer a whole bunch of deleted scenes didn't make it to the 25th Anniversary Blu ray. These scenes include the Sanderson Sisters at the pool, in a supermarket and additional scenes with trick or treaters. They are referenced but the actual scenes are not shown.
Picture

8 - An original idea for the film was that the witches would trick the children by feeding them candy crows. In two deleted scenes (that once again didn't make it to the 25th anniversary blu-ray) we see the Sanderson Sisters at a supermarket buying ingredients for the candy crows and in another we see them handing them out.

9 - The Hocus Pocus sequel book isn't the only official Hocus Pocus book.... a novelisation of the film was released to coincide with the films release and actually features many of the deleted scenes and the candy crow storyline. You can still get your hands on the book from sites like ebay but expect to pay a pretty penny for a copy.

10 - The film has several alternative names. In Mexico and Venezuela it was released as Abracadabra and in France it was known as Hocus Pocus: Les trois sorcières which translates to The Three Witches.

11 - Hocus Pocus takes place on Halloween night in 1993. In the film there is a full moon but in reality there wasn't a full moon that night. The last time it was a full moon on Halloween was in 1974.

12 - Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimi have all agreed to doing a sequel and although there are many rumours of a sequel in production for Disney+, there hasn't actually been any official announcement from Disney themselves.

13 - Thackery Binx was actually played by two different actors. Human Binx was played by Sean Murray while his voice  was from Jason Marsden.

14 - The Sanderson Sisters were hanged in Salem on October 31st 1693. In reality the Salem Witch Trials ended in 1692 and so no hangings would have occurred.
Picture
15 - The scene where Billy cuts open his mouth and moths fly out actually featured real moths. A special mouth rig was created and placed inside Doug Jones' mouth to stop him from swallowing any of the moths. When the time came he was able to breath out enough air to push the moths out of his mouth and create the famous scene.

16 - Towards the end of the film the Sanderson Sisters take flight into the night and Sarah begins to sing (The song's original title is actually Garden of Magic). The scene of all three sisters flying over Salem was actually created using puppets. Each of the sisters were created as miniature puppets on brooms/a vacuum.
Picture
17 - Satan and his wife were played by Penny and Garry Marshall. In real life they were actually brother and sister.

18 - The original title for Hocus Pocus was Halloween House. Early scripts even had this title, it was later changed to the movies name that we all love.

19 - Sarah Jessica Parker discovered that her 10th Great Grandmother was originally accused in Salem of witchcraft in 1692. Esther Elwell was accused of committing "Sundry acts of witchcraft". This was discovered when Parker took part in an episode of Who Do You Think You Are.

20 - The film was originally slated to be a Disney Channel original movie and there were no plans to release it in cinemas. Disney saw potential in the film and wanted to see if it would be a huge hit. Although it has reached cult status over time, maybe releasing the film in October and not July would have ensured it was a bigger hit in 1993...

21 - Real cats were used to play Binx. Kenny Ortega has stated that nine cats were used in total and each one was used for different scenes. An animatronic cat and cgi were also used. Even by today's standards, the effects created to bring Binx to life are still extremely effective.

22 - The song "Almost Unreal" by Roxette was written by Per Gessie as a theme song for Hocus Pocus. It was later scrappe and instead used for the live action Super Mario Bros film. Doesn't really fit at all though does it?
Picture
23 - A mini animated series was released via the official Hocus Pocus Facebook page for the 25th anniversary. The short-lived series is called The Brew and only consists of 5 episodes and they're extremely fun to watch. Personally I had hoped for more episodes the following year but it seems as though Disney has put the animated series to bed.

24 - The colours of Max Dennisons tie-dyed t- shirt all coincide with the colours of the three witches. Red for Mary, purple for Sarah and green for Winifred.

25 - During scenes where there are a large number of children trick or treating, various costumes are actually famous characters from different movies and games. Mrs Potts from Beauty and the Beast, Sonic the Hedgehog and even Michael Myers from Halloween all make a very brief appearance.

26 - In the scene where the witches suck the life force out of Emily Binx, she slumps over and is apparently dead. When the Sanderson Sisters begin to dance you can see Amanda Shepherd, who plays Emily, move a little.

27 - The house that Allison lives in was also used in American Beauty, which also stars Thora Birch. In reality the house is only a few doors down from the real Witch House in Salem.

10 Spooky Things To Still Look Forward To In 2020

5/28/2020

Picture
I think we can all agree that so far 2020 hasn't exactly been the best year so far... but that doesn't mean we should just push it under the carpet and wait for 2021 to hurry up and save the day.

Although nothing this year is guaranteed, hopefully the ten things below will be enough to at least give you something to look forward to this year and still bring a little piece of Halloween to your day. Please also do let me know what you're most looking forward to this year too in the comments below!

Picture
New Funko Pops
Funko has revealed so many new Funko Pops recently for their Funkoween in May event.

This year will see the introduction of new Zombieland, Corpse Bride, The Craft and Marvel Zombie Pops. In fact there are so many new Horror/Halloween themed Funko Pops being released that I felt it was only necessary they had their own blog post, which you can check out right here.

Personally I am excited for the new Hocus Pocus funko pops (There are more characters than the Sanderson Sisters though Funko!) and also the new Corpse Bride pops too.

Picture
Shopping

Although a fairly easy one on the list, it definitely is something to look forward to. I know quite a few of you are worried that ranges might be affected this year due to the closure of so many stores from the Pandemic. At one point I saw rumours that some stores wouldn't be getting any Halloween stuff at all and honestly I could not find any fact behind any of these claims.

Whether you're going into a store or shopping online, there will be many new releases from all kinds of stores this year and it's definitely one thing to look forward to. I can't wait to see what Homesense and TK Maxx release this year as those are my two favourite UK stores and also have the best range of Halloween goodies each year.

Picture
American Horror Story

Although production might be a little delayed and also the theme changed due to the time of year being one of the key features of the new season, we will still get another American Horror story!

This years theme has already been teased but still we all have no idea what it is. Ryan Murphy even revealed a new spin off series called American Horror Stories is also in the works. The new show will focus on individual stories per episode instead of one long storyline per season.

Hocus Pocus Board Game

To say I am excited for this one is an understatement. Due for release this summer, Hocus Pocus the board game is being released by Ravensburger. The goal of the game is to defeat the Sanderson Sisters before sunrise, fail and they will live forever. This family friendly game also comes in a book style box and includes spells and quotes from the film. No official release date has been revealed yet but we do know that it's definitely coming this year.

Halloween Kills

The next installment in the Halloween franchise and also new trilogy, Halloween Kills is still due for release this October.

A very short behind the scenes video was revealed by Jamie Lee Curtis last Halloween and it reveals very quick scenes from the upcoming sequel. The story will continue directly where the 2018 release left off and will also continue into the final part of the trilogy Halloween Ends which is due to be released in 2021.

Jason Blum also revealed recently on twitter that the trailer is on the way. Fingers crossed we get a reveal of what's in store very soon.

You can check out the video teaser below.

Picture
Halloween Countdown Calendar

Although this does fall under Funko Releases I felt like this needed it's own place on this list as who doesn't love a countdown calendar?

Christmas can move aside as a new Halloween Countdown Calendar is about to hit the shelves and this one includes 13 mini Funko Pop figures from some of your favourite movies. Included in the calendar are Pops from Beetlejuice, The Nun, IT, Friday the 13th and The Shining.

Due for release in August, this will give you plenty of time to grab one in time for the spookiest month of the year.

Picture
Bethany Lowe Designs

A new year means so many new Bethany Lowe Designs products! If you're a collector or just love the odd piece, this years range of new arrivals will have something for everyone. I put a list of some of my favourite releases for this year, which you can check out right here.

So we can all look forward to new vintage style creations, brand new Johanna Parker arrivals and more. Speaking of Johanna Parker you can grab so many other treats from Johanna's Partners in Craft collections. A small group of independent artists and stores have worked with Johanna to release unique pieces.

Halloween

This year the spookiest day of the year it's at it's spookiest. Not only does it fall on a Saturday but there will also be a full moon!

What's more is that if you're in the USA the clocks actually go back an hour in the early hours of November 1st (UK is Oct 25th) so for those partying on Halloween night, you'll have an extra hour of spooky fun.
So get planning as whether we're in lockdown or not you will not want to miss out on this Halloween.

New Lego Haunted House

Lego have unveiled a brand new Haunted House set that is actually already available to VIP members but will have a general release on June 1st for everyone else.

The set contains 3231 pieces and includes 8 characters too. Aimed at adults (18+ age on the box) this set will allow you to build a Haunted House ride with actual motorised free fall lift! The motor is sold separately but honestly with how cool this is, you'll need it!

"Welcome to Manor von Barron, a spooky Haunted House theme-park ride packed with chills and thrills for all who dare to enter. Once home to one of the world’s greatest villains who travelled the globe in search of treasures to steal, this Haunted House is a nostalgic throwback to classic LEGO® adventure sets, so be sure to look for rare bricks and ancient artifacts hidden throughout this spooky set!"

The set is priced at £209.99 here in the UK.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor

If you enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House then you should be excited for the second season of the anthology series from Netflix. Bly Manor began production in September 2019 and luckily wrapped in February of this year making all filming (unless reshoots and additional scenes are required) completed. Which also means that it's on track to still be released this year.

The Second season will be based on The Turn of the Screw by Henry James and will include at least four of the original cast members returning as brand new characters. It has already been stated its a new story so there will be no link to the original.

There is no official release date yet but my guess is we'll be seeing it around the spookiest month of the year!

Funkoween Is Here! Halloween-Themed Funko Releases You Need This Year!

5/22/2020

Picture
Funko has official made this week (May 18th-22nd) Funkoween and all week they have been revealing Halloween-themed Pops that will be hitting stores this year.

From The Nightmare Before Christmas all the way to brand new Countdown Calendars there really is something for everyone and this week's releases have been so great to see each day.

I've put together a list of some of my favourite reveals for you to check out below. Now excuse me while I figure out how badly my bank account is going to be hit...
The Nightmare Before Christmas

Extending the already huge range of The Nightmare Before Christmas Pop figures comes even more releases. This time you'll be able to get your hands on another new Sandy Claws Pop, Sally, Oogie, Jack and even a new release of the highly sought-after Mayor. The original Mayor Pop which was part of the very first release of NBC pop figures can now fetch you up to £200 on Ebay.

Along with these releases you can also get your hands on a new Oogie Boogie keychain, 10 inch Jack and also new Dorbz!
Marvel Zombies

One release I really didn't see coming is the release of a whole range of Marvel Zombies. The new zombie pops will be available as standard pop figures (with additional variants) as well as new Mystery Mini pops and Keychains!

All you need to do now is decide which ones you will be getting, if not all of them of course. As a side note how cool would a Marvel Heroes Zombie film be?
Disney Halloween Mickey and Minnie

How cute are these Minnie and Mickey Halloween Pops? Personally I have never been a huge fan of Mickey and Minnie as they're just not my thing but these I actually really love. The contrast of colours used really gives them a classic/vintage style look. I would by lying if I said I wasn't tempted to purchase these for myself this year.
Picture
Corpse Bride

Making their Pop debut these Corpse Bride pops are another surprise release for this year. Emily and Victor will be available (along with scraps who comes with Victor) and hopefully will pave the way for even more releases from this wonderful film in the future.
Picture
Hocus Pocus Flying Sanderson Sisters

For the third year in a row Funko are releasing more new Hocus Pocus Pops. As a huge fan of this film I am excited to add these to my collection. Funko have already released 7 other Sanderson Sister pops the first being the standard Sanderson Sisters with their brooms, the second release saw them posing (Mary with her cheese balls is still my favourite of them all) and the Movie Moment set which featured all three sisters around a cauldron.

This year we will once again see the Sanderson Sisters return but this time they're flying. As much as I do love these pops, I am slightly disappointed by the lack of other characters that Funko are still yet to release (or even consider). It would be great to see Dani, Max, Billy, even the Mom dressed as Madonna would be amazing. Come on Funko get releasing more from this classic!
Picture
Halloween Minions!

The Minions are now getting a Halloween makeover too with a brand new set of Halloween Pops. Available in five different designs, you'll be able to add these to the already growing collection of Minion pops.
Picture
The Craft

If you're a fan of The Craft then you will love these. All four of the main characters from the 1996 film are now available for the first time ever as Funko Pops and they really do look great. It's nice to see this film getting more merchandise released for it as it really is such a great film. A remake to this film is apparently also in the works although I personally do not think it needs it. The original has aged well and is a cult classic.
Picture
Killer Klowns From Outer Space

What's creepier than a film about killer clowns? How about Killer Klown Pops... Another Funko Pop Debut, these Killer Klown Pops will be released in three different designs and are sure to be a huge hit amongst fans of this horror franchise.
Picture
Zombieland

When I first saw they had revealed Zombieland Funko Pops this week I honestly thought these had already been released, so it was a nice surprise to find they're a new release. All but Little Rock are available from the Zombieland range which I honestly don't see the logic behind releasing all but one of the main characters but then giving Bill Murray two Pops? I can only assume more Pops are on the way in the future which will include the much needed Little Rock to complete this already awesome collection.
Picture
Child's Play 2 Chucky

A new addition to the Child Play range of Pop figures is the new 10 inch Chucky Funko Pop. Chucky is carrying a bloody knife and it's also the first 10 inch Pop to be released in the already growing range.
Picture
Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands has already had the Pop treatment in the past but now the range is about to get even bigger with not one but five new Edward Pops and for the first time ever a new Kim Pop. I actually think Edward looks slightly better than the original release and it's also great to see him recreating a few other scenes from the film. It's nice that they have released Kim along with the new collection too. Now let's get Peg a release and please Funko release Joyce with her Ambrosia Salad.
Beetlejuice

The ghost with the most has already been given the Pop treatment (along with Lydia) but for the first time we're being treat to Adam and Barbara in their full creepy transformation look and the look so, so good! I cannot wait to grab these two once they're available later this year.
Picture
Universal Monsters

Another extension to an already released franchise are these two new additions to the Universal Studios Monsters series. A new glow in the dark Frankensteins Monster and invisible man will be released later this year. Can you imagine if the invisible man release was just an empty box?
Picture
Halloween Countdown Calendar

The final release on this list is this new countdown Calendar. Designed to countdown the days to Halloween, this calendar includes 13 mini Funko Pops from some of the most popular film franchises around. Annabelle, IT, Little Shop of Horrors, The Shining, The Nun, Beetlejuice, The Exorcist, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and The Lost boys are all included in this release which actually makes up a total of ten confirmed Pops. Does this mean there are three more film Pops to be revealed or will this 13 figure set include 3 Pops from the same films?

This is an awesome release from Funko and I really hope they release these every year with new Pops each time. A 31 day calendar would also be awesome too. My only criticism to this calendar is that I wish the countdown started at 13 and then went down to 1 for Halloween but other than that it's perfect!

Seven Witchy Films To Watch

5/10/2020

Picture
If you're wanting to add a little big of magic to your day (the good or bad kind) then this list of seven Witchy films to watch might just help.

Not all of the films listed are kid friendly, so if you're after a family friendly film maybe avoid 3,5 and 7 but all are worth a watch. This is just a tiny amount of some of the awesome Witch themed films available and i'm sure they'll be a part 2 in the future so be sure to let me know what Witchy films you love in the comments below.

Picture
Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is possibly one of the most famous Halloween films around but did you know it wasn't always the case? The film was originally released in July (because July is such a spooky month right?) in the USA and October in the UK. It didn't do well at the box office at all and most would have thought it would be forgotten.

As we all know that isn't the case and over the years it has become a huge classic that is shown many times, every single year in October. The film follows Max, Dani and Alison who have to stop a trio of witches from sucking the lives out of all the children in Salem. If you have never seen it then stop reading this article and go and watch it NOW.

Picture
The Witches

Another classic is Roald Dahls The Witches! Staring Anjelica Huston, The Witches follows the story of Luke who has recently become an orphan. He is sent to live with his Grandma. When they take a visit to a seaside hotel Luke soon discovers that the Grand High Witch is having a meeting with all the other witches at the same hotel. He learns of their plan to turn all children into mice and must try and stop them.

I remember watching this film as a child and it terrified me but watching it again made me realise how fun this movie really is. It's definitely worth a watch and if you have time be sure to read the original book too.

Picture
The Witch

The Witch or The V VItch as I like to call it (why use two V's to make a W?) is another film that's worth a watch. It's not incredibly fast moving but totally worth watching until the very end.

The Witch follows a family who are cast out of their village due to accusations of witchcraft. After setting up home elsewhere and alone their youngest child is taken by what they assume is a witch. As they hunt for their missing child the possibility that they've been cursed by an actual witch begins to build and life as they know it takes many twists and turns.

Picture
Practical Magic

Practical Magic is possibly one of the first films that come to mind when you think of films about witches and rightly so because it's a great film.

Practical Magic follows two witch sisters who grow up with their two aunts. After they accidentally kill a man (he deserved it) they try and cover up his death. With the police on their trail and a few paranormal twists it doesn't work out as easy as they hoped. The book is also worth a read along with the prequel book that focuses on the early years of the two aunts. If that's also not enough the soundtrack features songs by the wonderful Stevie Nicks.

Picture
The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project was released in 1999 and was such a phenomenon that for a while a lot of people questioned whether it was actually real or not. I remember not being able to go to the cinema to see it due to being too young but begging my sister to rent it from Blockbuster when it was released. I did eventually watch it and terrified myself.

The film follows a trio of film students who venture into a Maryland forest to film a documentary about the legend of the Blair Witch. It very quickly becomes apparent that they're lost and that the legend of the Blair Witch might not be just a legend at all. A sequel to the original film was released a year later in 2000 although the found footage concept has been dropped for the sequel. In 2016 a surprise reveal also announced a third film in the franchise was released and it's as good, if not better than the original.

Picture
Howl's Moving Castle

Howl's Moving Castle is one of many wonderful Studio Ghibli films and witches actually appear in quite a number of the Films. Moving Castle is one of my favourites and it's such a fun film that it just had to make the list.

The film follows Sophie who is unfortunately cursed by a witch. The curse has turned Sophie into an old woman instead of her usual 18 year old self. Hoping to break the curse she comes across Howl's Moving Castle and ventures inside where she makes a deal with a Fire Demon who promises to break her curse if she can help break the contract he has with the wizard Howl.
If you enjoy this film then be sure to check out other Ghibli classics such as Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro and Ponyo.

Picture
The Craft

When thinking of films with witches the Craft is most likely on a lot of peoples lists, which is why it had to be included. A remake is currently in the works although I personally think it doesn't need one.

The Craft follows Sarah who recently starts at a new school. When she becomes friends with a trio of outcasts they join together to start playing around with magic. To begin with it all seems like harmless fun with personally benefits for each of them but when one of the girls starts using it for the wrong reasons the film soon takes a dark turn.

A Haunted Home is a Happy Home and these ten art prints will definitely haunt the walls of your house. I have put together a list of just some of my favourite art prints that I have come across recently which I think you might like too.

It was so hard to not buy all of these prints while putting this list together as they really are fantastic. I just have to keep telling myself "you have no wall room" and pretend I also didn't hear what I said...

Picture
Hallows-Eve Print

I have shared Lucky Hellcat before in a previous small business blog post and because I absolutely love this print I definitely feel like she needs another share!

This adorable print features a cute little pumpkin man called Mr Tooties (too cute right?) who is sprinkling stars in the sky to get ready for Halloween. He's also being carried by his friend Spookies who is giving him a lift through the night sky.

You can grab this 8 x 10 signed print right here and be sure to follow Lucky Hellcat on Instagram too.

Picture
Spoopy Bat Print

The fact the word Spoopy is in the title of this print is enough to get my attention (I love how spoopy is a thing) and this print is a gorgeous.

Featuring a Spoopy Bat carrying a Jack'o Lantern with a crescent moon behind, this print from Brett Manning Art is definitely one for the wall. Manning actually makes so many wonderfully spooky things including a throw blanket that I just had to purchase.

You can grab this 5 x 7 print right here and be sure to follow her on Instagram too.

Picture
Ghost Party Print

Another business I absolutely love (and have shared before) is Simply Gothic. The store stocks a bunch of different jewellery pieces along with subscription boxes and now a large amount of new prints!

This Ghost Party Print is super cute and would make a great gift for someones birthday. Plus how great is that graveyard cake?

You can grab this print in either A5 or A6 size right here and also follow Simply Gothic on Instagram here too.

Picture
Ghost in the Stars Print

Rhode Montijo makes some of the best spooky products around and this print is no exception. Featuring a spooky ghost with Jack'o Lantern, bats and stars, this print is a must.

Rhode has so many prints, pins, patches and even huge Halloween flags available in his store. So if you need a vintage style Halloween fix then you know where to go.

You can grab this signed 8 x 8 print right here and be sure to follow Montijo on Instagram too.

Picture
The Major Arcana Poster Print

If you're into Tarot cards and also Halloween then this poster is the one for you. Featuring the full set of Major Arcana Tarot Cards on one poster, this print would look amazing on your wall.

Yosiell Lorenzo has created a whole world of Victorian Era inspired Halloween treats and as the owner of a bunch of his products they really do not disappoint at all. If you would rather have the actual Tarot Cards then you can grab those too!

You can buy this poster print right here along with the Tarot Card set. Be sure to follow Yosiell on Instagram too!

Picture
Trick or Treat Print

This print from Simons Nest gives off so many spooky vibes and I absolutely love it. Featuring a Jack'o Lantern, bats, candy corn and an autumnal look, this print is available in multiple sizes and also on different products.

Simons Nest has quite a few Halloween products available in her store too including Candy Corn badges, tote bags and more. So be sure to check out the whole store.

You can grab this print in A3, A4 and A5 right here and follow Simons Nest on Instagram here too.

Picture
Hocus Pocus Emily's Funeral Print

Hocus Pocus is quite possibly the definition of a Halloween film (unless your Halloween is more of a stabby stabby kind of Halloween.... i'm looking at you Michael) and if you absolutely love it (like I do) then you'll love this print and also Sugar Mynt Gallery.

This print is a reproduction of an original storyboard for the 1993 film. It was drawn in pre-production in 1992 by Giacomo Ghiazza who was the storyboard artist for the film. Although it's a re-print it has actually been signed by Ghiazza himself.

This particular print is taken from a deleted scene from the film where Binx watches Emilys funeral from afar, which is honestly heartbreaking.

Currently there are a total of 17 storyboard prints available from the gallery and you can check them out right here. Also follow Sugar Mynt on Instagram here too.

Picture
Haunted House Print

Who doesn't love a Haunted House? Whether it be visiting one, looking at one, buying things to do with Haunted House or just living in one. There really is something so fascinating about a home that is haunted.

This print from Manière Noire shop is hauntingly beautiful and only available in a limited edition quantity of ten. The print itself measures 5 x 7 inches. So perfect for framing too. Look at a Haunted House while standing inside a Haunted House... bliss!

You can still grab this print right here and be sure to follow the store on Instagram too.

Picture
Trick or Treaters Halloween Print

Trick or Treat yourself with this Trick or Treaters Halloween print from Little Spooky Studio.

Featuring adorable kids dress in their Halloween costumes (how cute is the ghost?) this print not only would look great framed but I really love the colours used in this to give off an autumnal glow.

It's available in 5 x 7 inch size and you can grab it right here. Be sure to also check out the rest of the Little Spooky Studio store for more spooky treats and follow LSS on Instagram too.

Picture
Halloween Poster Print

The first time I ever came across Madame Talbot's poster prints was in Salem and the moment I saw this particular poster I knew I needed it.

The print features all kinds of Halloween imagery, witches, skeletons, bats, owls, a grinning moon, shrieking cat and more. The colours used really add a vintage look to the entire print.  This poster is stunning and even nicer in person.

What's more is the original design was hand drawn and then sent to the printers. So a computer has never edited or had any part is the making of this design. What you get is a re-print of the original, fully hand-drawn design. How amazing is that?

You can grab this poster print right here and be sure to check out the entire treasure trove of posters available from the store. Oh and follow MT on Instagram too!

Thanks so much for reading this article! I actually share a whole load of Halloween things on my instagram so if you'd also like to follow my daily (almost) updates then head on over to HERE.

Top 10 Halloween films as chosen by you!

3/4/2020

Picture
I asked you all via the October 31st Facebook page what films you like to watch at Halloween and you did not disappoint!
So many of you let me know what you watch every year, with some of you even adding in your Halloween traditions and stories, which was honestly so nice to read. As I was putting the list together it was clear very quickly what film was the number one choice with the second being a very close tie.
So without further ado, here is the top ten Halloween films, as chosen by you!

10 - Sleepy Hollow

Picture
Sleepy Hollow is tenth on the list and what a great entry it is. The film follows Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) who is sent to investigate the town of Sleepy Hollow after reports of beheadings occurring by the Headless Horseman. Definitely one of Tim Burton's better films and always worth a watch each year, even if it's just for the pumpkin scarecrow at the very beginning!

9 - Practical Magic
Picture
Very happy to see this film make the list as it's a favourite of mine! Practical Magic is the story of two sisters who wind up accidentally killing an abusive boyfriend and try to hide his body but magic and the otherworld have other ideas. This film is such a great story (a prequel book has also been released this year too) and the soundtrack is enough to get your feet moving.

8 - A Nightmare On Elm Street
Picture
It's no surprise A Nightmare on Elm Street made the list, this film terrified me as a kid. A slain janitor returns to terrorise and murder teenagers in their dreams and the only way to stop him, is to wake up! Spawning a whole series of films, this is definitely a must watch any time of the year!

7 - It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Picture
Confession.. I only saw this for the first time in 2017 but instantly fell in love with. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is an adorable short film about the peanuts gang celebrating Halloween and the arrival of 'The Great Pumpkin'. First released in 1966, this film has become a timeless classic and I am so glad to say it will be a part of my Halloween every year from now on.

6 - Beetlejuice
Picture
Two words... Winona Forever. Beetlejuice is another Tim Burton film to make the list and rightly so. A recently deceased couple attempt to use the help of Beetlejuice to rid their home of an annoying family. Staring Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, this film is brilliant from start to finish. Oh and it has some killer quotes.

5 - Halloweentown
Picture
Halloweentown is a definite classic and another timeless masterpiece for Halloween. A young girl discovers she is a witch and uses her powers to help save the town. If you haven't seen it before, check it out as soon as possible!

4 - The Nightmare Before Christmas
Picture
The third and final Tim Burton film to make the list, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This was extremely close to actually being in third place but was knocked off the top three spot by one vote. If you haven't seen TNBC before then where have you been? Jack Skellington is tired of the same old Halloween every year and goes on the hunt for something new. He stumbles upon Christmas Town and decides that this year he'll be taking over Christmas for all. It just doesn't exactly all go to plan.
After watching it though, you'll have to decide whether it's a Halloween or Christmas film? Myself personally, I say it's definitely both!

3 - Trick 'r Treat
Picture
I watch this film so many times each year that it's just become a total go to Halloween film when i'm after that Halloween feeling. Trick 'r Treat features five interwoven stories that happen on Halloween night including a teenagers prank, secret killer principal and a group of girls who are after more than just a date. With the announcement of a sequel a few years ago, it really doesn't surprise me that it's in the top three as it's already a cult classic.

2 - Halloween
Picture
A list of top Halloween films would not be complete without the original Halloween film. You just knew it was going to make it on the list before you even clicked the link. For the small few who haven't seen this film, Halloween focuses on Michael Myers, a killer who killed his sister when he was only 6 and ends up in a mental asylum. 15 years later he returns and goes on a killing spree.

40 years later and the Halloween franchise is as big as ever! A brand new Halloween film has just been released in cinemas and instead of following the original sequels or even remaking the original, the new film ignores everything after the first film. Watch this and then get to the cinema to see the newest film. Ive seen it and it is amazing! Go go go!!

1 - Hocus Pocus
Picture
As I was going through all of the submissions, Hocus Pocus quickly started to add up as a film so many of you watch every Halloween and it's no wonder why. Hocus Pocus is an absolutely classic Halloween film and is currently celebrating it's 25th anniversary.
On Halloween night in 1693 Salem, three witches are hanged for the murder of a small child and the disappearance of her brother. Right before their lives come to an end Winifred Sanderson casts a spell that will allow them to return when a virgin lights the black flame candle. 300 years later a virgin lights it and all hell breaks out. This surprising family comedy from Disney is an all time favourite of mine and i'm so happy to see it reach first place!

This year Disney also released the Anniversary edition on blu ray which features trivia and never before extended and deleted scenes! If you haven't seen this before then I have no idea where you have been but see it, see it now, RIGHT NOW!

____

A few films that didn't make the top ten but definitely deserve a mention are The Addams Family, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, Tales of Halloween and Coraline!

Thanks to everyone who took part in this list!

25 Hocus Pocus Products To Celebrate The 25th Anniversary!

3/4/2020

Picture
Hocus Pocus hit 25 years old this year and we've been treated to a whole bunch of brand new merchandise as well as an anniversary edition of the film being released.
As Hocus Pocus definitely falls in my top ten all time favourite films and because you can never have enough of it, I thought it would be the perfect time to create the top 25 Hocus Pocus products to celebrate the 25th Anniversary!

To add a little extra to this, i'll also throw in some fun trivia throughout the list to make it even more Hocus Pocus filled!

25 - William Butcherson Pillow from October 31st

Picture

Ok so i'm starting the list with an original October 31st product.... which is completely bias of me to do so BUT it's been so popular I had to include it in the list and say thank you to everyone who has grabbed one so far! If you want to grab your own you can grab it right here.

24 - Coffin Framed Print
Picture
Created by bwanadevilart on Etsy, this print comes in a wooden coffin shaped frame and really does look awesome. The print alone is incredible and a definite must have. You can grab your own right here.

Fun fact: Hocus Pocus was original created as a story by writer David Kirschner. He would read the story to his children before bed.

23 - Oh look, another glorious morning enamel pin
Picture
The Foxy Hipster has created a sparkly pin that sums up how a lot of us feel about a nice morning... you can grab your very own right here.

22 - Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Blu Ray
Picture
The list definitely would not be complete without including the 25th Anniversary Blu ray. After 25 years Disney finally included deleted scenes! On top of this, the blu ray is the first ever blu-ray release for the UK. This particular edition from Zavvi also comes with a 40 page booklet which includes trivia, behind the scenes pictures and more!

A steelbook was also available through Zavvi and has since sold out. Across the pond, the states also received a steelbook that looks just like the Spell Book from the film, Walmart sell the blu-ray with a collectible pin and FYE have an edition with glow in the dark postcards! BUT I haven't included links as all three stores don't ship to the UK.

You can grab this blu ray right here.

21 - Sarah, Mary and Winifred Funko Pops
Picture
When these were first announced they were revealed to be exclusive to Spirit Halloween in the states. Sadly they don't ship worldwide so for us Halloweenies in the UK, the chance of grabbing them was slim. Luckily The Nerdy Byrd saved the day and had them available for pre-order too!
They have since sold out and demand has been extremely high but do sign up for alerts as if they have any over-stock or cancellations they will be available again. Sign up for alerts right here.

20 - Sanderson Bed and Breakfast wooden sign
Picture
I stumbled across this while searching for Hocus Pocus things on ebay and absolutely love it. This wooden sign would look great hanging up at Halloween, in your kitchen or basically anywhere! It comes unpainted so you can paint it in any colours you like, or just leave it as it is.

It's also a total bargain at £10.00 and free postage! Grab yours right here.
Fun fact: Although a Halloween film, it was originally released in July 1993 and didn't perform as well as Disney had hoped. Created on a budget of $28 million, the film ended up making just over $39 million in the end.

19 - Spell Book Pillow
Picture
BrassingtonHollow on Etsy has created a whole bunch of different book style pillows and what's even more incredible is they actually open up! This Spell Book pillow opens up to reveal the life potion spell inside. It looks amazing and is also super soft. Purchase your own pillow via Etsy.

18 - Billy's Gravestone and Winifreds Spell Book pins
Picture
These enamel pins features Winifreds spell book and Billy's gravestone and are only $10 each from Oddment and Tweak! They ship worldwide and after purchasing these myself can happily say they're even better in person! Grab them right here.

17 - Hocus Pocus Journal
Picture
After years of hoping and waiting, the UK Disney Store finally added Hocus Pocus merchandise to it's store! Although a lot of it has already sold out theres still a small amount of products still available, like this I/Eye Put A Spell On You journal! It's glittery, gold and perfect for all your spells. Pick one up right here.

16 - Hocus Pocus And The All New Sequel Booooook!
Picture
It might not be the live action sequel we were all hoping for.... but it's a start! *cackles*. A brand new sequel was released this year which features the return of the Sanderson Sisters but this time follows the story of Poppy, Max and Allison's Daughter!
This book also includes a retelling of the original story (not much has changed so for those worrying, it's still perfect) and would be a great book to read throughout October. Available via Amazon.

Fun fact: Sarah Jessica Parker absolutely loved flying on her broom, so much so that she would often spend hours at a time suspended on her broom while learning her lines.

15 - Hocus Pocus inspired print
Picture
Created by Devon Whitehead, this Hocus Pocus inspired print is available via his Etsy store and would look incredible framed. You might have seen this design before via Cavity Colors as it was originally sold as a shirt but has since retired. Purchase a print right here.

14 - Kitchen Witch Dolls as chosen by HOCUS POCUS COLLECTOR!
Picture
These adorable dolls have been chosen by @HocusPocusCollector on instagram!

"These kitchen witch dolls by @lunamoongothic are a favourite in my collection! They are handmade with love and perfectly represent the Sanderson Sisters based on their clothing but especially their facial expressions. Kitchen witches also provide good luck in the kitchen which there is never enough of, especially in fall baking season!"

Grab your own Sanderson coven right here.

13 - Hocus Pocus D23 Print
Picture
This print from Creature Features was originally created for D23's 20th Anniversary event and was limited to 300 pieces! Luckily a small amount of artist proof editions are still available and you can get your own right here. You might have seen this same print on t-shirts, bags etc. If you do, don't buy it folks as it's stolen from Creature Features, support the original team that helped get this amazing print made!

Fun fact: A scene cut from the film (but available on the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray) features Mary asking if the towns people can check to see if she left her cauldron on before she is hanged. When the Sanderson Sisters return from the dead she exclaims "I knew I left this cauldron on, didn't I tell you!"

12 - Salem Witches Pennant
Picture
This pennant is fantastic! Created by Two Ghouls Press, this Salem Witches pennant would look great on any wall, maybe even above your growing Hocus Pocus collection? You can grab this from Two Ghouls Press themselves or if you're in the UK you can also grab it from the October 31st store (a Billy pin is also available from both stores).

11 - Miniature Spell Book Sculpture
Picture
Isn't this incredible? This Spell Book sculpture has been sculpted by Etsy user Psychopomp85 and painted with acrylics. It was created to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the film and really does look fantastic. It's clear to see a lot of love for this film has gone into making it. Purchase your own right here.

10 - Hocus Pocus Poster
Picture
This re-printed poster from All Posters is perfect for any fan and can also be purchased framed! You can grab your own right here.

9 - Sanderson Sisters Horror Pops Keychain or Necklace
Picture
"The people of Salem capture and execute three witches for making ice cream" but I thought it was for sucking the lives out of little children...
Creepies have created two awesome Hocus Pocus inspired products. The first is this hilarious Sanderson Sister ice cream. Available as a keychain or necklace you can also grab another Billy design via their website. You should also check out the descriptions for both as it is hilarious! Check them out right here.

Fun fact: Bette Midler has stated that Winifred Sanderson is her all time favourite role she has ever played.

8 - Dani with Binx Custom Pop Figure
Picture
This custom Dani Pop figure also includes a smaller Binx Pop cat! She is made by PegacornCustoms on Etsy and luckily they also ship worldwide! You can grab your own Dani and Binx right here.

7 - Always With You Patch
Picture
This patch features Dani and Binx along with the words 'I Shall Always Be With You' around the side. It was created by Monika Foglia for Super Yaki, along with a Binx Pin that was also signed by Jason Marsden, the voice of Binx himself! How cool is that?!?!

You can grab the patch from Super Yaki right here. The Pin has sold out on Super Yaki but you can still grab it from Monika's store right here (the patch is also available if you wanted to grab both together).

6 - I Put A Spell On You Pin Set
Picture
Enamel Pins? Check, Sanderson Sisters? Check, Spell Book? Check, Black Flame Candle? Check, Glow in the Dark? Check totally awesome pins? CHECK! This pin set from Demonic Pinfestation pretty much has everything a Hocus Pocus fan needs, the flame of the black flame candle even glows in the dark! Grab the before they're gone right here.

5 - Mens Hocus Pocus T shirt
Picture
This seems to be the only official Men's shirt released by Disney this year (although anyone could wear it :). Featuring webs, cauldrons, ghosts, eyes and Binx himself, this shirt will definitely help you run amuck this halloween. You can grab this from Shop Disney USA right here and they ship worldwide!

Fun fact: Rosie O'Donnell was originally offered the role of Mary but turned it down as she didn't want to play a scary witch. Kathy Najimy also wanted the role as she was desperate to work with Bette Midler due to being such a big fan.

4 - Hocus Pocus in Focus
Picture
If you're wanting to learn even more about the film including fun facts and trivia then this book is definitely for you! It even has a foreword by Thora Birch herself! Grab your copy from Amazon right here.

3 - Letter Writing Set

Fun Fact: Although featured in an original trailer a whole bunch of deleted scenes didn't make it to the 25th Anniversary Blu ray. These scenes include the Sanderson Sisters at the pool, in a supermarket and additional scenes with trick or treats. They are referenced but the actual scenes are not shown. You can check out this trailer right here. Count how many scenes are missing!
