Ten Spooky Songs To Listen To During Quarantine-o-Ween!

3/31/2020

Picture
Today (March 31st 2020) has been declared Quarantine-O-Ween by the Halloween community and I for one am totally down for it. So just like with Halloween it's time to dress up, decorate, make spooky food and drinks and listen to spooky music because Halloween has come early this year.

As so many of us are at home right now this is a little bit of fun that has been put together to bring a little spook to what might be a difficult time for so many right now. Let's all have a spooky day today and don't forget to share your pics, videos, food, crafts and more using the hashtag #Quarantineoween on instagram or tag #OctoberQuarantine to be featured in a blog post this week!

Below is a selection of spooky songs to boogie along to today and please do share your own spooky songs in the comments below!

Happy Quarantine-O-Ween all!

Picture
Bobby Boris Pickett and The Crypt Kickers - Monster Mash

Monster Mash was released in 1962 and actually became a Number 1 in October of that year. Even since then it's been a Halloween classic, so it's only right that this kicks of todays list.
Picture
Florence and The Machine - Haunted House

Now this one isn't your typical Halloween hit and in fact this song went a little under the radar due to being a B side for her single Moderation in January 2019. Although a little different to what you would expect who doesn't love the idea of your heart being a spooky haunted house?
Picture
Kim Petras - Turn Off The Light featuring Elvira

Petras released Turn Off The Light part one as a 7 track EP in 2018, which was then followed by part 2 in 2019 and ultimately became a 17 track full album of spooky hits. If you like then this then be sure to check out the entire album because this alone is one hell of a spooky hit!
Picture
Andrew Gold - Spooky Scary Skeletons

This song was released by Andrew Gold in 1996 from his album Halloween Howls. The song has become a Halloween classic over the years and has even been covered by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Picture
Zombina and the Skeletones - Nobody Likes You When You're Dead

I was obsessed with this song in my teen years, constantly replayed and I danced like mad many times around my room. 18 years later and I still love it. Released in 2002 from the album Taste The Blood of Zombina and The Skeletones, this is definitely one to dance like mad to.
Picture
Michael Jackson - Thriller

This song doesn't really need any kind of comment, it's a classic, a really, really good classic and perfect for today! Released in 1984 the song and video are still considered one of the best releases of all time.
Picture
Hocus Pocus / Sanderson Sisters - I Put A Spell On You

I Put A Spell On You was originally released by Jalacy 'Screaming Jay' Hawkins in 1956. Over the years it has been covered so many times that you can't really listen to it without singing along, even if you think you don't know the words. In 1993 it was included in Hocus Pocus and sung by Bette Midler, although some of the song was tweaked to fit more in with the film. I adore this song with a passion and love the film even more so.
Picture
The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Time Warp

Time Warp is another classic on the list and one that definitely makes you get up and dance. I don't think you're even allowed to have a Halloween party unless you play this song... it's Halloween law! Released in 1975 it's just one of the many songs sung throughout The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Picture
Rockwell -Somebody's Watching Me

Released in 1984 Rockwells Somebody's Watching Me reached number 1 on Billboards Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number 6 in the UK! It also made it into the top ten in 14 different countries. The song also features baking vocals from both Michael and Jermaine Jackson and is another Halloween hit.
Picture
Misfits - Halloween

Halloween was actually released on Halloween in 1981 and has grown over the years to become a Halloween staple. Then again who doesn't love a song that sings about Candy Apples and Razor Blades? The song has also been covered several times most notably by Alkaline Trio and AFI.

Monday

Another week is here and today is a fun day! I've selected a bunch of artists who are currently giving away free activity sheets that you can download right now. So today it's all about colouring pages and puzzles. Johanna Parker currently has free floral cat masks that you can download and colour in. There is also a DIY Paper Doll activity sheet which is also 50% off right now too if you want a little more JP fun. Kris Miners has released colouring pages of some of his book illustrations that you can download and colour in for free.  Skullduggery Ceramics has also released a fun spooky word search via her instagram that you can check out right here.

Tuesday

Today has been declared as Quanrantine-o-Ween by the Halloween community. Halloween has come early for those of you currently at home so get those decorations back out, get the spooky songs on and dress up because spooky day is back!

What better way to celebrate than with Pumpkin Spiced Latte Jello Shots! Now these are definitely not for kids (although you could make a batch without the coffee liquor and they'll be just fine) but they'll be a hit at your mini party with your quarantine family and friends.

Make your very own shots right HERE

Wednesday

I know a lot of people right now might not be able to leave their homes unless its absolutely necessarily but currently here in the UK we're still allowed one trip out for exercise per day. So if you're able to leave the house keep an eye open for chestnuts/conkers!

There will still be quite a few around the ground right now (unless the squirrels got to them first) so if you see any grab a bunch and get making these spooky eyeballs for your plant pots!

You can then place them around your garden to add a spooky touch throughout the year. To find out everything you need to do to make these head right over here.

Picture
Thursday

This week Thursday is movie night and the film for this week is The Ring!

The Ring was released in 2002 and follows the story of Rachel and her son Aiden who come across a cursed video tape. Rachel ends up watching the film and discovers that within seven days she will die unless she breaks the curse and reveals the dark history behind it.

If you enjoy The Ring then also check out The Ring 2! There is also a short film called Rings that ties the first and second film together along with a third film with the same name (although it retcons most of the history developed in the original two films *insert angry face emoji here*). And finally if you want more Rings goodness check out the other ten Japanese and Korean films as well as a 12 part tv series!

Picture
Friday

Another crafty make for you today and also a really easy (and cheap) make that you might be able to make with things already around your home.

If not you can easily grab everything you need from discount stores like Poundland. The great thing about this make is that you can make it in any colours that you like, so if you have a specific theme in mind or want to make it match your colour scheme at home then it's super easy to do so.

To make your very own Crystal Ball just click right here.

Picture
Saturday

How adorable are these Yarn Doll Ghosts? They're easy, quick and a load of fun to make. If you have kids at home right now then they'll love making these. All you need is yarn, felt, cardboard and some glue. a lot of you will have this at your home already so all you need to do is get making!

You could even make a whole bunch of these and string them together to make a ghostly garland.

Make your own little ghosts right here.

Picture
Sunday

You've managed to make it through another week and to end it it's time to make a nice hot drink, grab some snacks and curl up with a good book.

I highly recommend John Connollys The Book of Lost Things. This is one of my all time favourite reads and is definitely worth checking it out.

Once upon a time, there was a boy who lost his mother . . .' As twelve-year-old David takes refuge from his grief in the myths and fairytales so beloved of his dead mother, he finds the real world and the fantasy world begin to blend. That is when bad things start to happen. That is when the Crooked Man comes. And David is violently propelled into a land populated by heroes, wolves and monsters, his quest to find the legendary Book of Lost Things.

It's quite creepy in parts and will keep you hooked from start to finish. This is a book that you'll remember for a very long time and if you enjoy it be sure to check out some of Connolly's other books. I highly recommend Nocturnes which is a book of short supernatural stories!

Seven Spooky TV Shows to Binge Watch (Part 1)

3/27/2020

Picture
As many of us are at home at the moment you might be wondering what to do. You've cleaned the house, organised those cupboards, caught up on any other tasks but now what?

Well it's time to BINGE watch your new favourite show of course. So grab whatever snacks you have, a big blanket and wrap yourself up with these seven TV shows that will help past a few days at least.

Picture
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

This one is worthy of many, MANY Binge watches because honestly Buffy is amazing. Sure season 1 & 2 haven't aged too well but they're still worthy of being watched over and over. Buffy has a total of 7 seasons and 144 episodes with each episode being around 44 minutes each... thats a lot of binge watching to be had.

Plus if you come to the end of all seven seasons and need more of the Buffyverse in your life then also check out the spin off show Angel. Angel has five seasons and 111 episodes in total so you're pretty much all set.

Picture
Six Feet Under

I miss Six Feet Under. I MISS IT! Six Feet Under follows the Fisher family who run a funeral home in Los Angeles and it's all about the ups and downs of family life and everything in between. It's such a brilliant show and so well written that if you have never seen it before it's pretty much guaranteed to become one of your favourites. It also has one of the best TV show endings I have ever seen.

Six Feet Under has a total of five seasons and 63 episodes all running around 55 minutes each.

Picture
The Haunting of Hill House

Hill House was huge when it was first released on Netflix and if you've never seen it, where have you been hiding? If like the many hidden ghosts in each episode you've missed it then now is the time to check this show out. You could easily binge all of this in one day (if you start fairly early that is) so it's not a huge time killer but you'll easily pass the day away. Season One clocks in at a total of 10 episodes all around 50 minutes each.

What's more is that it's already been given a season 2 and just like the next show on the list will be a new anthology show. The Haunting of Bly Manor is the official title for season 2 and will be available 2020.

Picture
American Horror Story

American Horror Story is an anthology show so you don't necessarily need to watch each season in order or even all seasons to get into it. I actually started watching AHS from season 3 and then worked my way backwards.
Each season has a new theme and the same cast but as different characters (with changes here and there) and with nine seasons and 103 episodes this is one show you can binge for sure.

So whether you're interested in ghosts, witches, serial killers, aliens, a travelling freak show, the apocalypse and more, this show has something for everyone!

It's also already been renewed right up to season 13!

Picture
Scream the TV Series

If you're a fan of the Scream films (raises hand enthusiastically) then you'll enjoy Scream the TV Series. It doesn't have the same amount of suspense as the original films but it's worthy of a watch.

Scream has a total of 3 seasons with 30 episodes, the final episode of Season 2 being a two-part Halloween special. Series 1 and 2 follow Emma Duval who is being stalked by a killer who is slowly killing people she knows one by one. Season 3 changes characters and location entirely and you're treated to a brand new story to sink your knives into.

Picture
Ash vs Evil Dead

Ash vs Evil Dead is brilliant! If you're a fan of the original films then you will love this. It follows Ash (Played by Bruce Campbell) who has to fight the Evil Dead once again and save mankind. He has help though with his partners in crime Pablo and Kelly. The show has a total of three seasons and 30 episodes all timing in at around 30 minutes each.

What's makes this show great isn't just the return of Bruce Campbell but it also has other returning characters from the films as well as being created by Sam Raimi who created the original trilogy.

Picture
Goosebumps

As a kid I remember going into WH Smiths with my parents and looking at all of the Goosebumps books, wanting every single one of them. Especially the choose your own adventure books. At the time the TV show was also on TV and although it's no longer running it is still worthy of a watch.

I recently watched episodes of the original show and it's a little cheesy in parts but so much fun. It ran for a total of 4 seasons and and has 74 episodes. When you're done you'll also have the 235 books to read and also the two movies that were released in 2015 and 2018.

So thats seven tv shows to binge watch this week! Keep an eye open for part 2 next week!

Ten Spooky Games To Kill Some Time (and not each other)

3/25/2020

Picture
If like me you're at home right now and can't go out then you'll most likely get a little bored over the next few weeks, so to kill some time (and not each other) here are a bunch of games i've scoured the web for that you can buy right now and play with others you're currently with.

Hopefully these will help you fight boredom and also stay safe at home until all of this is over.

I have included a number of links for each game to give you more options on where to get it and also different prices. If a link doesn't apply to your location, you can still find a lot of these games elsewhere.

Picture
Horrified

Horrified is an official Universal Studios Monsters game where the most iconic monsters are coming for you!

In the game you have to work together to defend the town from Frankenstein, Dracula, Frankensteins Bride, Wolfman, The Mummy, The Invisible Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon (how cool!). It's aimed at ages ten and up and has an average game play time of around 1 hour.

What's really cool as well is the game includes seven paintable mini monster playing pieces and is suitable for 1-5 players.

You can grab this game right now from Amazon UK, Amazon US, John Lewis and 365 Games.

Picture
Halloween Charades
Who doesn't love Charades? Usually played on Christmas Day, this Halloween edition is perfect for not only October but all year! You'll most likely need a couple of people to play but it's so cheap you and your friends could all order it and play through webcam for now.

The game includes 50 charade cards along with 3 mini certificates for best, worst and the overall winner.

Grab this game from Amazon UK or Ebay.

Picture
The Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly

This one might be best not to play during lockdown considering how many arguments it seems to cause but you can't deny it's pretty cool right?

The Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly is the same classic game we've all played before but with a NBC twist. It includes 6 game pieces along with Jack Skellington cash and a Halloween Town themed playing board. Monopoly is suitable for 2-8 players.

You can grab your very own NBC Monopoly from Amazon UK, Amazon US and GAME.

Picture
Stupid Deaths

Stupid Deaths looks like a lot of fun! A lot of dark fun that is... the goal of the game is to guess whether a somewhat stupid death is true or false. You're also being chased by the Grim Reaper and for every correct guess you can move your playing piece a little closer to home, get it wrong and you have to move the Reaper closer to you instead.

If the Reaper catches up with you then it's game over. You do also have extra life cards to save yourself but they're limited.

Stupid Deaths is aimed at 2-6 players and is for ages 12 and up.

Grab Stupid Deaths from Amazon UK, Amazon US and Menkind.

Picture
Bugacula

Bugacula is a short but very fun and very repetitive game so you can easily play this over and over again. The goal of the game is to light as many candles across the board as you can without Bugacula catching you and lure him onto the catapult where you can literally fire him across the board and out of the castle.

It's a fun game that might be a little tricky to set up (there are a lot of pieces) but it's aimed at ages 6 and up so is sure to be a lot of fun!

You can buy Bugacula from Amazon UK, Amazon US and  Smyths Toys.

Picture
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Board Game

If you love Buffy then you will love this game! The goal of the game is to help Buffy and her friends defend the town of Sunnydale from vampires and demons. Oh and the big bad... who once again wants to open the Hellmouth and destroy everything as we know it.

You can use special abilities to fight the demons and also play as various characters from the show including Willow, Spike, Xander and even Buddy herself.

Help Buffy save the day and grab this game from Amazon UK and Amazon US.

Picture
Halloween Twist and Bend

If you've played Twister then you already know how to play this game and if you haven't, it's so easy to play. All you need to do is spin the dial to see where it lands, you then place your left/right hand/foot onto the square that goes with the Halloween symbol.

The more tangled up you get the more likely you are to fall and drop out of the game. This is always a classic game to play throughout the year and loads of fun. The fact that it has a Halloween twist is even better too!

Grab your very own Twist and Bend game from Amazon UK, October 31st and Party Avenue.

Picture
Stack the Bones

Another game that is similar to a classic game is Stack the Bones. If you have played Jenga then you'll know what to do. The goal of the game is to remove a piece from the stack and place it on top. The higher it gets and the more pieces placed on top the more likely it will fall over.

The winner is the player who manages to remove and place the last piece on top without it falling over. What I love about this is that instead of the usual blocks that you remove it's actually bone shapes that make up the pieces. It's a simply change that is such a great idea.

Get stacking from Amazon UK, Amazon US and Beaumonde.

Picture
Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkins is a fun, quick game for ages 6 and up. In the game you have to create 3 piles of cards, each round the player places a card onto a pile and each player continues to do so until all three cards have the same matching symbol. If all three cards reveal the same symbol then its a smash! The player who manages to get rid of all of their cards first is the winner.

Each card has spooky and pumpkin themed images like Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and Jack'o Lanterns, which makes this game even more fun. Oh and it's all house in a Pumpkin box!

Grab your own Smashing Pumpkins game from Amazon UK, Menkind, John Lewis and Zatu.

Picture
Ouija

Ouija was originally created in 1894 and has long been associated with the dead. Using the Planchette you can use the board to speak with the dead and ask questions. If the planchette begins to move by itself then you'll be getting answers whether you like them or not... or so they say.

Believed by many to actually work and many who think its all false, this is one board game you can easily play at home but for this one i'm not including any links.

No one said anything about social distancing from the dead now did they?

Film night is tonight! And tonights film is one of Tim Burton's best films... Corpse Bride. If you've already seen it then it's time to watch it again and if you haven't why not?!?!

When a shy groom practices his wedding vows in the inadvertent presence of a deceased young woman, she rises from the grave assuming he has married her.

Corpse Bride is a brilliant and fun (also sad) film that you'll really enjoy. It also has some fun little songs throughout that you can sing along to, even after the film has finished.

Picture

As today there are ten different ways to make Halloween themed sandwiches. All you need is bread and whatever you want to put inside them.

This is a little bit of fun you can do with the kids, or just by yourself to spook up lunch time. Either way you'll have a nice spooky sandwich today! Make your own right here.

Saturday

This is another make you might be able to easily make around the home and if not you can grab everything you need for cheap.

Another make for today and this time it's these Faux Taxidermy Insects. All you need is wood plaques, fake insects and gold and black paints. You could actually do this with many other fake animals or just odd little things that would look great against a black plaque. Either way these look great and will be fun to make. Find out more right here.

Sunday

So this week there's two movie nights. If you've watched Corpse Bride and managed to complete all of this weeks makes then it's time to sit down, relax (again) and grab the popcorn as tonight you're watching Halloween Night.
Halloween Night is a recently released fan film (which raised a whopping $10,000 on indiegogo to fund!) that focuses on the grandson of Dr Loomis and his wife who have to deal with the return of Michael Myers!

It’s Halloween in Haddonfield, Illinois. The infamous Halloween Night of 1978 is all but a memory for the people of Haddonfield as the new generation of townspeople look to put the town’s marred legacy behind them. But Death has come BACK to their little town…

You can check out the awesome fan film below and let me know what you think in the comments.

Ten Films To Watch Right Now! Part 1.

3/21/2020

With everything going on in the world I know a lot of you might be a little bored at home. So to pass some time and hopefully keep you entertained for a few hours here are a list of ten films you should watch right now!

Also let me know in the comments below what you're watching!
Picture
Doctor Sleep

Doctor Sleep was only released last year and although didn't do that well at the box office (just over $72 million on a $40 millon budget) it is definitely one to watch.

Years following the events of "The Shining," a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.

I actually wasn't a huge fan of The Shining (gasp) and as much as I wanted to like it I just couldn't, Doctor Sleep however had me hooked from the very start. It's almost a stand alone film in itself with a link to The Shining than a direct sequel and it is worth the nearly 3 hour watch. Rebecca Ferguson who plays Rose The Hat in the film is also amazing. It would be great if Stephen King wrote a prequel all about her character as she really is fascinating to watch.

Picture
Mother!

Another film that didn't do that well at the box office ($44 million on a $30 million budget) is Mother! Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem this film is one to mess with your head a little.

A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

I went into this film not knowing much about it apart from what I had seen in the trailer. It starts off a little slow but the story soon starts to unfold and change very, very quickly. You'll go from being relaxed to on the edge of your seat, gasping, in shock and then looking back on it all wondering what the hell you just watched. But trust me it is worth the ride.

Picture
Heathers

Released in 1989 Heathers stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater and is a definite classic. If you have not seen it then where have you been? The film is all about Veronica (Ryder) who is just trying to survive high school by hanging around with the three most popular girls in school who also happen to all be called Heather. Then she meets J.D (Slater) and things start to take a very dark (and humorous) turn.

In order to get out of the snobby clique that is destroying her good-girl reputation, an intelligent teen teams up with a dark sociopath in a plot to kill the cool kids.

You will love Heathers and the soundtrack is pretty neat too. A tv show was nearly given the green light in 2018 and was fortunately dropped. This is one film that needs no remake at all.

Picture
The Night Eats The World

The Night Eats the World or the original French title La nuit a dévoré le monde  follows the story of Sam who goes to a party in Paris and falls asleep in an empty room. With the door closed, fast asleep and alone he has no idea that while he sleeps a Zombie outbreak is happening right outside his door. He wakes the following morning to find everyone dead and he is trapped in the apartment with no where to go and no one to help.

I stumbled across this film on Netflix and thought I would give it a watch and I am so glad I did. It is definitely one of the best Zombie films I have seen recently and also is a little different to the usual fight and survive type of Zombie film we see all the time.

Picture
Train to Busan

The Train to Busan (Busanhaeng original title) is a Korean Zombie film that is honestly amazing. The story follows Sok-woo who is taking his daughter Soo-ahn on a train journey to Busan. Which would be fine if there wasn't a massive Zombie outbreak happening. The film starts with a newly bitten woman running onto the train and into the toilet. Not long after the train departs she transforms into the undead and all hell breaks out. Imagine being trapped on a fast moving train while one by one each carriage becomes infected. I was gripped the entire time watching this film and cannot wait for the upcoming sequel.

While a zombie virus breaks out in South Korea, passengers struggle to survive on the train from Seoul to Busan.

Picture
The Addams Family (2019)

We all love The Addams Family (and if you don't you're wrong) and the latest animated film is a must watch. It's creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky altogether ooky, it's the Addams Family! Sorry I couldn't help myself... but on a serious note this film is funny, sweet and will hopefully become another classic, just like the original films.
If you're expecting the same vibe as the originals then it's mildly there but if you're going into it expecting a bit of creepy fun then you're in the right place. I really enjoyed this film and it's nice to see The Addams Family on screen once again. What I really like the most about this film though is the fact it honours the original sketches by Charles Addams himself and brings them to life once more.

The eccentrically macabre family moves to a bland suburb where Wednesday Addams' friendship with the daughter of a hostile and conformist local reality show host exacerbates conflict between the families.

Picture
The Blackcoat's Daughter

The Blackcoat's Daugher (also known as February) is an interesting watch thats for sure. Starring Emma Roberts and Kiernan Shipka, the film focuses on two girls who get left behind at a Catholic Boarding school during Winter Break. But nothing is what it seems...
I would definitely put this in my top 50 films as it really was such a great watch. It leaves you guessing throughout the film and even when it's over you'll be googling to find out more but also satisfied with how it all ends.

Two girls must battle a mysterious evil force when they get left behind at their boarding school over winter break

The Witching Season

If you're missing Halloween lately then you will love this. The Witching Season is a anthology series created by Witching Season Films and includes five short films that will definitely bring a little Halloween into your living room.

The first time I sat down and watched all five shorts I wanted to decorate right away and actually ended up buying a Beistle decoration set just because it was featured so well in the opening titles.

What's more is that Witching Season Films recently released a Halloween atmospheres video for those wanting spooky season a little early. Oh and it's all free! You can buy the anthology film on Blu Ray but for those who have Amazon Prime you can check it out right there too.

Sleepy Hollow

Did you know Tim Burtons Sleepy Hollow is 20 years old? The film hit 20 last year! I remember when this film was first released and I am pretty sure as a kid I was terrified, which thankfully grew into a deep love for this film over the years.

Sleepy Hollow follows the story of Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) who is sent to the town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of beheadings. The towns people believe it to be the legendary apparition of the Headless Horseman but Crane isn't convinced and believes there is a very easy explanation behind all of it.  Little does he know what he is in for.

The film also stars Christina Ricci as Katrina Van Tassel and like always she is fantastic, as is Depp! If you haven't watched this film then Check. It. Out!! It will become one of your instant favourites for sure.

Ginger Snaps

Ginger Snaps is another classic and actually has spawned two sequels. Released in 2000 the film follows sisters Ginger and Brigitte who are leading normal teenage lives until one of them gets bitten by a werewolf...  As time goes on Ginger slowly begins to transform and the beast inside starts taking over. Desperate to try and stop it and also find a cure they will do anything it takes to ensure they stay together.

The sequel to this film Ginger Snaps 2 Unleashed is also another one to watch as it's as good, if not better as the original. I recently watched this again and although it hasn't aged well it's still a favourite of mine and one I hope you'll also enjoy.

Along with the film you can also check out todays Behind the Sofa podcast from Ollie and Kirsty.

Spring is less than a week away so lets get ready to plant things and see them bloom this year.

Today's project are these adorable Halloween plant pots. They're extremely easy to make and a really fun! All you need are some paints and plant pots and you're all ready to go. Most homes will most likely have a plant pot around somewhere, whether it be in the garage, garden shed or sitting outside with a dead plant in it thats been there for about 8 years.... and if you don't, places like Poundland and Home Bargains will have plenty. So grab your pots and get designing via the link right HERE.

Also make sure you have a few extra pots as Fridays make will need a few more too...

Thursday

It's time to relax a little today with a wonderful article from Maple Grove Cemetery all about Tillson Street. Located in Romeo, Michigan, Tillson Street goes all out every single year for Halloween and the street looks absolutely amazing. Luckily for us Maple Grove Cemetery has created two posts all about the street and it's filled with so many pictures! Not only does this street look fangtastic but you might be able to get a few ideas for your own Halloween displays this year too.

Check out Part 1 here and part 2 right here.

Friday

Grab those left over plant pots and lets get making again. Today you can use your pots to make your very own Candy Machine! Once again it's really easy to make and also extremely cheap. It looks brilliant and would look fantastic at your next Halloween party, or just out all year so you can get your candy fix.

Right right over HERE to check out how to make it.

And once again.. if you have any left over plant pots save them for tomorrows make!

13 Friday the 13th Movie Facts For Friday the 13th!

3/12/2020

Picture
Friday the 13th is here! And although it's unlucky for some, it's definitely unlucky if you're planning a stay at Camp Crystal Lake.

The film franchise has been running for a whopping 40 years now and 12 films later it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon.

So here's 13 Friday the 13th movie facts to sink your knife into this Friday!

Oh and yes these do contain spoilers!

Picture
13 - There are a total of 12 Friday the 13th films (Including Freddy vs Jason) and although a 13th film would be awesome, it looks like we won't be getting one for quite a while due to a very long, ongoing legal battle.

12 - In the original Friday the 13th film Pamela Voorhees was the original killer who was seeking revenge after the death of her son. After this the killer became Jason and it stays this way throughout the rest of the franchise. But did you know that there was a prequel mini comic book series released called Friday The 13th Pamela's Tale? The two part series was released in 2007.

11 - Camp Crystal Lake is a real place! Although it's actually called Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco and is currently a camp for Boy Scouts. The camp is located in Hardwick, NJ. There is also a real place called Camp Crystal in Florida.

10 - Out of all of the films only three of them are set on Friday the 13th. Part 1, Part 2 and the 2009 remake all take place on this date.
Picture
9 - The original film only cost $550,000 to make but made nearly $40,000,000! So it's no wonder a sequel was released a year later (which also made just under $22,000,000).
8 - Although Pamela is the killer in the original movie, it was actually a man who played the killer throughout the film until the big reveal.

7 -Before it was called Friday the 13th, the original title for the film was A Long Night At Camp Blood. Which would make total sense for all the films not actually set on Friday the 13th but let's be honest... Friday the 13th is much better.

6 - Five films so far have all been released actually on Friday the 13th. These are Part 3, The Final Chapter, Part 7, The Final Friday and the Friday the 13th remake.
Picture
5 - There is a Freddy vs Jason sequel! Although not in movie form, the sequel titled Freddy vs Jason vs Ash is available in a 6 part comic book series and actually brings Ash from The Evil Dead into the mix.

4 - Jasons current total kill count from all 12 movies stands at 167 kills. Michael Myers has only killed 121... so far.

3 - Originally Jason was going to be called Josh but it was later changed as Jason sounded much better. Sean Cunningham who directed the original film thought Josh would easily be forgotten and as no sequels were originally planned he didn't mind, until someone convince him to change the name.
Picture
2 - In an original script idea for Freddy vs Jason it was meant to reveal that Freddy was actually a councillor at Camp Crystal Lake and had abused young Jason which would lead to his revenge. This idea was later dropped for the film we have now.

1 - When you think of Jason Voorhees you instantly think of the hockey mask wearing killer but he didn't actually wear the mask until Part 3.

Ten Buffy The Vampire Slayer Facts To Celebrate 23 Years of The Chosen One

3/10/2020

Picture
It's been 23 years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer first started kicking butt on our tv screens and although I now feel very old knowing this, Buffy is still as fangtastic (I couldn't resist) as ever.

To celebrate 23 years of the Chosen One here is ten fun facts about the worlds best Vampire Slayer.

10 - Charisma Carpenter who played Cordelia was originally up for the role of Buffy. As Sarah Michelle Geller was rising in popularity due to films like Scream 2 and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the producers insister Gellar was the star of the show and so a switch was made.

9 - In the original pilot episode Willow was actually played by Riff Regan and not Alyson Hannigan. When the show was picked up, the plans to replace Regan were already in place. They wanted someone who was naturally a little quirky and Alyson Hannigan fit the role perfect. Poor Riff :(

8 - Dawn was originally planned to have powers of her own but these were later dropped. If they had been kept she would have been able to talk to the dead and also move things with her mind.
Picture
7 - A spin off with Faith as the main character was also planned but when the show ended Eliza Dushku wanted to pursue other roles instead and so it ended there. Although a Angel and Faith spin off comic series was released after the season 8 comic.

6 - The decision to have the vampires turn to dust was to make the show a little easier. Instead of the gang jumping over bodies and also having to clean up after every fight, the decision was made to have them turn to dust. It also cost $5000 in cgi costs each time too.

5 - In the episode Hush The Gentlemen steal the voices of everyone in Sunnydale and as creepy as that episode is, it actually happened because of a dream Joss Whedon had. In the dream the gentlemen slowly floated towards him while he was in bed. Doug Jones who also played Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus was played one of them in the episode.

4 - The ending of season five was foreshadowed in season 3. Graduation Day Part 2 sees Faith tell Buffy "Miles to go, little Miss Muffet counting down from 7 3 0" in a dream sequence. Later in Season 5, episode 2 we see Dawn walking to the Magic Shop when one of the people Gloria turned insane says "I know you, curds and whey... I know what you are". Little Miss Muffet ate curds and whey in the original nursery rhyme. Dawn is Miss Muffet and from Buffys graduation it's exactly 730 days until Season Five, Episode 22. Which as we all know is 'The Gift'.

3 - In scenes where Angel and Buffy would kiss, Gellar and David Boreanaz would purposely eat bad foods like pickles and tuna to ensure their breath smelt as a small joke to each other.

2 - When a show is running for 7 seasons you would think letting the cast know it would end with season 7 would be a priority... unfortunately not. Sarah Michelle Gellar actually revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in 2003 that the show would end with season 7. Almost all of the cast and crew didn't know this and either read about it from EW or were told by friends or family who had read it.

1 - With that being said Buffy was originally planned to end with season 5. It was written and filmed to be the very final episode and although an extremely sad one at that, it did continue. The WB had not renewed the show for a 6th season and with no guarantee it would be picked up by another network the cast and crew had made it so it ended with... well an ending. When UPN picked it up, the show continued for another 2 seasons and thankfully it ended with Buffy not dying after all.
